Today I went to my good friend's to talk to him about his 74 fj40. He had indicated that he was ready to let go of it along with all his other parts a while back. I told him I was his man and he said $750.

I get the hard top. Top sides from a 78 with the double side glass, they are missing the vent windows. Two sets of cancer free front doors and a set of very nice ambulance doors. I also got the header piece for an ambulance door top. The soft top he has is pretty beat up but the doors are complete and the frame work is all there.

The cruiser is missing the rear 3rd member because it's in his 71 driver. Floors are pretty good and the cowl is decent. Quarters are toast. Wheel wells need work. Front fenders are pretty rough. Frame looks good.

It has the original engine which would probably run with a bit of effort. I think it's going to get a small block in the future though. Brakes will need upgraded and the package also comes with a complete 76 disc brake front axle. There is also a pile of loose miscellaneous parts.

I'll update as I get more pics of things. It was raining today so I got scared of possibly melting and only took a couple pictures. I probably won't go back and get the rest for a couple months.

Good score for $750 in my books.

I'd love to find a truck like that for $750!

Congrats.Good find! Now a bit of patience and a few $ you will be stylin'.

Nice , that will keep you off the streets and out of the pool hall for a while.

Thanks guys. I didn't need this one to keep me occupied just yet, but you have to strike while the iron is hot. I'm not quite done with my 76 FJ40 but I am getting closer.

FYI: "quarters are toast"... NOT.... come out to New York State to see what REAL rusted quarters look like (as if there would even be any quarters left to see on a $750 truck)

Great score. Friends helping friends - WIN/WIN

Would be nice if the 1.5F was in good shape. Save a lot of hassle doing a V8 conversion. But if that is how you want to go. I have recently thought if I had to do over again I would go with the big 292ci GM 6cyl with the SM465 transmission.
