Jesus. Dude's pickup puked coolant on the floor. Trying to cheer him up.
I’m sure telling him his truck is the worst of the big three cheered him up. 🤣😂

Back from the off road test loop at the cabin. Confirmed 4WD, low range, and cable difflock functions. I pulled the roof rack off to reduce drag. The Kimberley is a fat gal.

So glad it all came together for you, job well done!

Where do you have your temp sender located? I’ve been seeing 200-205F off my sender on the engine block in 85-90F ambient with the AC running.
Upper radiator hose. The dummy gauge on the dash is still being fed from the stock sender in the block, and it sits at about the 2/3 when the other gauge says 195, and it sits at about 1/2 when the other gauge says more like 185.

With my old radiator I’d hit 210-215 on long hill climbs in the mountains (think Vail or Monarch Pass) and the dummy gauge would ready about 7/8 😬 Anyway, that may give you a very rough guide on calibration. Although I bet every gauge and every sender are a little different.

Soft top 74 is almost ready.

Put the big shoes on instead of the tall skinnies.

Doing a little pre-trial run yesterday for ( SAS 9) all loaded up and pulling trailer, then this happened…

Cooling fan disintegrated as it shifted from 4th to 3rd heading up canyon. Running blue mod clutch and a turbo. The original white plastic fan is one of the only parts I have not replaced in all my upgrades and mods. I instantly shifted into neutral and pulled over. I’ll get her fixed up and be to SAS on Sunday!! I actually feel very lucky this happened now instead of on the way.

Ugh, Sorry to see that. On the upside, it looks like you still have a watertight radiator. Snap On (as I’m sure others) make a tool to straighten the fins. Lucky for you that you are in Utah and can hit CruiserOutfitters up for the parts you need. I’d check your motor mounts too while you’re in there. I had a close call on the trail and had major mount fail, causing a similar issue but luckily my fan stayed intact.

Better to find this out now versus in some remote location in the San Juans!

The white plastic fan is often overlooked.
IMO it should be replaced when the cooling system gets a refresh as well as the fan shroud. They both get brittle.
Sorry for your troubles ! and hope all goes well with the repair !

Ouch, and yes better now then next week! That's a good reminder! Mine is likely original on the 80 😬, and unless I replace it now I will be having flashbacks to a radiator destroying fan explosion mid-trail on my FJ-40 (first trail on first day of SAS4). Not fun! But thanks to this group I had another radiator in camp that same afternoon.

Wow, this one is pretty deep. The 40 is handling it like a champ!
Thanks! That 40 has been through this river so many times. The weight seems to help. Around this time there was a Ford Explorer tossed up against the willow bushes downstream in the river and we were not able to reach it with the Cruiser.
Hell yes! The stoke is very high for this. My 8 year old is even more pumped
This is so exciting! It sounds like we will have a great group!
