Ouch, and yes better now than next week! That's a good reminder! Mine is likely original on the 80 😬, and unless I replace it now I will be having flashbacks to a radiator destroying fan explosion mid-trail on my FJ-40 (first trail on first day of SAS4). Not fun! But thanks to this group I had another radiator in camp that same afternoon.
It is not too late to load up your 40 😉

I've put more miles on the 40 this year than the 80 and 62 combined. At this point it's a reliable driver. I'd bring it if I could - but not having A/C in it (even trailering it out) would have prompted a mutiny... it's been so nasty humid and hot here lately that the topic is not negotiable.. kids and dog inherited my wife's PNW climate tolerances!

Just spent the weekend converting my ac for these same reasons. I was afraid if I didn't make it more comfortable this may be my last SAS 🤣

All, I have a slightly used Garmin Overlander available for sale. Please let me know if you are interested and I will bring it with me. It’s all updated and works great and comes in the original box. There is a very slight scratch on the screen but virtually unnoticeable when running.

How does $250 sound delivered to your campsite in Ouray?

Man, SAS better start soon before a full-on western brawl breaks out. Haha!
(This is a joke, by the way. No flames please. Haha!)

Just got back from the shake-down loop. She's slow like I rememberd. On the other hand, the journey IS the destination. The trailer is just over 3,000 pounds. That's a big ask of a 3.4 liter turbo diesel. View attachment 3958152
Wheel and tire choice make a big difference on our underpowered 70's , when I am not wheeling I always use lightweight aluminum wheels and BFG tires for substantial weight savings that translate in better performance and way better stopping power . I love the look of those 16X8 OEM wheels but you loose several HP and they are way harder on your brakes . I think you can't get a heavier wheel tire combo if you tried ;-)

Ground problem I’ll bet.
Maybe. I tested power to my connector and the power disconnects to all prongs in the trailer connector when the brake lights come on. I’ll have a look tomorrow. My converter box may be toast but I am wondering if I have a chassis ground problem.

@shanko I think what he's saying is that Texans are used to getting in fights because we start s***. I hope you aren't calling us ass clowns...😅
That wasn’t what I was thinking initially but now I am not sure. I was thinking that Texans stick together like family.

This should be an interesting trail ride on Black Bear with you two. I have bear spray and trail mix.

Is anyone else finding it hard to perform your regular day job? Imma bout ready to go full Office Space on my work laptop and GTFO out of here

I respond better to trail mix, by the way. 🤣

Now you're calling us Bears? Well actually...wait, I'm not sure if Shawn is into that
