@TheBlackSheep A friend of mine started up “Drive Like a Girl 4x4” on Instagram too. She’s been organizing trips and trainings and stuff. She’s currently building an FJ80 - one of us.
I think I follow her! Didn’t realize she was organizing runs. I’ll have to pay more attention. Both my 62 and 80 (Dan says I have a “problem” 😆) are at the Cruiser spa at present, so it’ll be a hot minute before I’m back on trail. 🥲 Would like to give the 62 a major glow up before next year….

Do you have any locations around Salida? MooseCaboose could use some new shoes.

ALSO!!! @Mesa Woman, @80Lady, and other gals who lurk the testosterone-filled halls of MUD, if you’d like to get more lady dirt time throughout the year and haven’t checked out Lady Owned Toyotas, you might just be missing out. I can’t speak for other states (it’s worldwide), but I know the Colorado branch is VERY active. We’ve done brunches, movies, done recovery and newby classes, ran all kinds of trails from easy peasey Phantom Canyon to Slaughterhouse, China Wall, Black Bear, they’re planning an overlanding/ghost town trip in the fall. Huge group of friendly, knowledgeable, maybe slightly unhinged, ladies. Us Cruisers gals could definitely use more representation in the sea of 4Runners and Tacos. 😅
Not yet, but our Ken Caryl location is just up and over 285N (130 miles 😬). I’d be happy to try and coordinate delivery for you next time I’m out in Sept.

I’m used to Casey in a straw hat and Mexican beer. This here looks dapper, maybe the monthly meet up for Ferrari club.

Great leader, thanks for all you do to bring us together!
Unfortunately there wasn't room for the big hat this year in the 40. Lots of miles in an open top I'm afraid it would have flown out on the road somewhere.
Thank you for the kind words Neal. We have an awesome group of volunteers that make SAS happen each year. I can't thank them enough.
Casey..

Should’ve said something! I had a spare straw hat. 😁

@Flatlanderfj40 appreciate it! I roam from Leadville to Alamosa like I own ConocoPhillips, so if’n you happen to be about, just let me know! I need to make up my mind on wheels and I’ll get back with you. My current ones don’t actually fit, but they do look cool! 😅

Stellar .

Here is the official release of the vaunted 85 vehicle solid axle group photo from SAS8.
PM me if you want a high resolution version of any of these.

I knew at the time in the future I’d grasp the size and historical importance of this photo shoot (today seeing these first pics). To the future of TLC fans or not this was big and took a lot of blood sweat and tears to organize from volunteers, thank you for a place to call home. The dedication and appeal to appreciate something classic with class has rubbed off on me. I bought in and very proud of that. Soon if not already another generation will be saying wow look at all those classic, who are they, that’s us the TLCA family…

@RevISK Brilliant work on the organization, coordination and eye for the photo shoot!

I absolutely love how the rigs are grouped by series. So cool. Wish I could get my poop on order in a group to make one of these trips.
It’ll be even better next year, we’ve got some ideas 😉.

You owe it to yourself to make it. I’ll do my best to never miss another.

So.
Much.
Fun.

Not only grouped by series, also in order by year. Something we have wanted to do for a while but our photo location was very limited. Next year will be even better.

Had a blast flying my new drone around with @RevISK. We ended up using my smaller drone to help line up trucks which ended up working out nicely even though we didn’t get it up in the air until at least halfway through the staging. I likely won’t be there next year but if we can use a drone for staging again it’ll help speed up the process and make for an even better picture!

🏅 🏆 I won oldest 60 Series! 🏆 🏅

Casey just make sure if anybody with a 1981 60 tries to sign up next year that you put them at the very bottom of the waiting list … permanently.

Jim, I didn’t realize your truck was an 81, that’s badass. It’s a sweet rig, especially that front bumper 🤘
1982! Glass fuses, no choke indicator, front belt receivers that were just a cable bolted to the floor (no plastic cover), and other small oddities considered weird by 1983-87 60 owners. 1981 had the optional protection bar across the back window, that was really weird.

The bumper I suspect was home made. The shackle reversal plates are each 1/4” thick and welded to the outside of the frame horns. The mounting brackets for the bumper are spaced perfectly to fit that, so they’re 1/2” wider than the frame horns. It’s pretty goofy, and I’d love a low-profile 4Plus bumper one day … but it works for now. Definitely unique haha.

That's cool stuff! Unique is so much better than plain ole normal. I remember seeing a post about that protection bar, very cool stuff. Its probably there to keep the kids from falling out while they're in the back playing with legos like we were in 1982...

Well there is a 81 or 82 for sale by my work I have been looking at. But don't worry, I won't be back next SAS if I end up scooping it up.

Casey will make sure of that.

Wasn't it the year of the 80? One would have thought they would have been in the frt. I slept through the group photo o_O
