[1969 ToyotaFJ40]

A couple of hours after leaving SAS8 with my son, I received a call that my daughter (my son's twin), was rushed to the ER and then transferred by ambulance to the Pediatric ICU in El Paso.

Although I had originally planned to fly back home, I immediately started driving my 1969 Toyota Land Cruiser straight from Colorado to El Paso—10 hours at night, through the rain, with no top on the vehicle.

For the past week, my wife and I have been staying 24 hours a day with my daughter in the ICU. I finally received the good news that she can come home!

It's crazy how quickly life can change.

As a parent, that was stressful to read. I can’t even imagine what is was really like. Relieved to hear she is on the mend.

wow, George!! I can’t imagine what you went through on that long road! Our thoughts and prayers are with your daughter in hopes that she just keeps getting better and better! Stay strong Papa she needs you!

Glad the kids are doing ok. I know your son was sick at some point as well. I’m also a parent and a sick kid is one of the most stressful things.

Thank you. My son turned out to have mono , which is small potatoes compared to my daughter, but it explains why he wasn't feeling well.

There is no other thread on it, just my Instagram account @1969_toyota_fj40. I originally bought it when I was in high school. It has been to several restoration shops but ultimately Proffitt’s took it down to just the body and frame and completely rebuilt it. I picked up from the Montrose airport the day before SAS and took it over Black Bear Pass the next day.

In a weird coincidence, the doctor that was treating my daughter has a Spring Green FJ40 as well (1971) that he is looking sell.

As a fellow 69 spring green owner I could stare at this 40 all day.

I don’t know who put the googly eyes on my FJ40, but I heard they were put on many vehicles at SAS. I was driving around unaware they were even on my vehicle.
