Remember that I had to pop start mine using Reverse on top of that pass last year lol

Anyone know any tricks for starting diesels at high altitude? Stuck at around 9000 feet with iffy glow plug wiring View attachment 3073069
A little bit of starter fluid can help get it going; it needs to get a bit of heat to get going. Barring that if you have a jumper pack or a robust battery, cranking it long enough will eventually get it warm enough. Waiting until its warmer out will also help if possible.

I had problems starting mine last year after an extra cold night in Wyoming, turned out I had the wrong voltage glow plugs and had burned them out super quick.
Not sure how your glows are wired, but this might be helpful for diagnosing it when you get home. Fresh Start For A Tired 60 - 1HZ Conversion - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fresh-start-for-a-tired-60-1hz-conversion.1265477/post-14350203

We left early Friday morning from the central west Cost for a long day across the Mojave desert.
Made to Hurricane Utah for the nite, then up to cedar city to stretch our legs a bit, they have some really nice walking trails.
Then a easy drive up to Green River state park 😉

We found @epaul on the side of I70 after he passed us (yeah, 4.88's and an unbalanced driveahaft have us in the slow lane). He was just putting a charge hose back on. Glad I stopped not only to say hi but I found I had thrown a rock onto the front glass of my trailers camper shell and spidered it. It was still together so it got some gorilla tape reinforcement before it fell out entirely.

Well good day of last minute stuff. Power steering started leaking, redneck fixed that since I couldn't find a pump. Found a leak intercooler the intercooler, replaced that. Lastly got the air pump put in. One day I will do the lockers, one day.

Heading out from SW New Mexico. Will be running up the west side of state. Starting to sprinkle here now. Hope to get out in front of it as we all know how well the 48 year old wipers work. Lord willing and the creeks don't rise will see all in Ouray this afternoon

Day 1: Bozeman, Montana to Granite Creek, Wyoming - awesome spot with natural hot spring

Day 2: Green River aka Flaming Gorge, Wyoming - camping on the beach

Day 3: Ouray!!! ( kind of feel like saying Hurray! )

That boost connection had been good for 1,000 miles and popped just in time for a fellow SaSer to pull up! Was so cool to meet ya’ll. See ya in Ouray!

It was rained thunderstorm off and on all across Utah and last nite. ⛈️
We will make the last leg into Ouray today 😎🍺

See y’all in camp !!

@DangerNoodle looks like you are stuck on Hwy 50 westbound at the road construction near Curecanti NRA. I was there last week and sat in one spot for an hour! Definitely something everyone will want to plan around if you are traveling between Montrose and Gunnison during the week.

Finishing up the Carnage Award and I will be on my way. What is the ETA for Classic Cruisers/Elevation stop?

Did most of Rimrocker, just got to Moab a little bit ago. We immediately noticed the parking lot full of 80s - apparently the only place in town that rents them. Had to get a photo.

Rimrocker was easy Forest Service roads most of the way, except the stretch from the Hanging Flume to Buckeye Reservoir which isn’t technical but is bumpy. Oh - and if it’s muddy, stay off the trails that hang on a 1000’ cliff edge above Paradox Valley. Lots of puckering happened.

Lots of beautiful stretches up through there though including the developed campground at Buckeye Reservoir.
