I was actually talking to Jared the other day (big jer with the long bed 2nd gen) that I haven’t been out with them since my 3rd gen Tacoma. Busy with life and kids stuff, but I told him I’ve been getting the itch to go out with everyone again. Maybe I’ll see you around one of his mod days or wheeling trips! He mentioned something about this Saturday, but I’m on vacation until the 28th. Nice looking rig!

Thanks Matt!

Jared is a great guy, love that dude. Definitely come hang sometime! I don't make it to the mod days (same story as you, life/kids/etc, have to pick and choose when I get out) but our wheeling trips are always a good time. You could also come to the big AOAA event this October.

I’ll check out the AOAA event for sure!

In preparation for the AOAA event in October I have again revamped the cargo area of my GX. As much as I love the Yakima MOD drawer setup that usually lives in my GX, I needed to streamline the behind-the-third-row space to help maximize living space as I plan on sleeping in the vehicle.

So, old toolbox to the rescue, with a plastic tote box holding some things that didn't fit or were loose in the cargo area. Jumper cables now live in the storage compartment where the factory jack is.

Less is more? Now there's space on the driver side for either a folding mattress or twin air bed, which will make my spine (I'm a 33 y/o with the spine of a 60 y/o) happy vs sleeping on the ground.

I'll be surprised if that does not drone a lot. If it does, be prepared to splice in some quarter-wave and/or Helmholtz resonators :).

How much louder did it get? I was wanting to cut the resonator and add an angled down piece but I'm not wanting it to get too loud. (I know, most people want it louder.:))
I just posted what I've done here: GX460 & GXOR B.S. thread - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/gx460-gxor-b-s-thread.1315456/page-58

Minimal drone only when engine braking and at a slow speed, and even then you have to listen for it. General sound at any other speeds, can't notice it being any louder at all and I've had this for a year or two.

Got the Magnaflow Overland exhaust on last week. Here's a quick rev/acceleration clip. More in-depth thoughts to come. (You have to click the image and it will bring you to the video. Flickr doesn't want to embed for some reason. EDIT: Got it uploaded to YouTube, should be watchable on here now)

Oil change this week at 37,692 miles. Had the dealer do it so they could handle a minor warranty repair at the same time. They always run vehicles in for service through their car wash but this time they even put on tire shine 😲 Can't wait to scrub all of that off at AOAA next weekend ;)

...and with that the GX is fully in my care. Told myself I'd suck it up and pay to have it serviced at Lexus until the CPO warranty expired (for warranty/traceability reasons should I ever sell it) and that warranty expired this past Tuesday, 10/1/24. Next month (11/1/24) marks 3 years with it! Haven't had that many vehicles for 3 years (only a few actually) thanks to automotive ADHD, but the GX460 has staying power.

For fun, here's what it looked like the day I picked it up in 2021

Reminds me that I should take my in for a car wash on the dealerships dime!

I have taken mine into the Lexus dealer every 30k to catch the stuff I am not doing like any greasing or chassis torque verification.

I do oil, filters, brakes and basic suspension work. I don't want to mess with coolant, grease guns, or ATF.

Convenience comes in many forms. We’re about on the same page, but I’ve held off on doing LOF myself until my warranty was up. Now it’s all on me.

Love it! Yeah, it's not as custom of fit for all the nooks and cranny's, but it's simple, solid and looks like it can be taken out on a whim if you need the full rear space. And it looks to fit over the the third seats with out removing.
What'd it cost ya??
Looking at one of these and you're the only person I've found so far that has any sort of experience with them. What size is this one? Is mounting the drawers directly to the floor without the base an option or just something you did that isn't officially supported?

Ha-ha! My comment was directed towards the person who mounted them. My notes were observatory. Note that I'm asking about size and mounting.
I think when I do get around to doing a drawer setup, I'll design my own starting out with an aluminum pallet as the base (they have them that are the correct width, but need to be cut shorter for depth), add drawers to the open slots where the fork lift would lift, and an aluminum plate with some track tie-down system mounted on it. In short, I want it to be as light as possible. I don't need another 100 lbs in the back, before I even start loading it up.

Well hell. I quoted the wrong person. @Roody I'm asking for a review of the mod system. Curious about maybe just buying the drawers and mounting them to a frame. Combined they look to be significantly taller than other drawer setup but separate both shorter. Also only rated for 50 lbs on the drawers and 100 on the base while arb is rated to like 250.
