Looking to change the oil for the first time since ownership. Has anyone moved to 5W-30? I know a lot of the Land Cruiser 200 guys go from OW-20 to 5W-30.

Anyone here do that? Moderate climate in NC. 2011 GX460

I'm also in NC and have changed to 5W30 the last few oil changes. I'm using the high mileage synthetic from Costco and change every 5k.
Haven't noticed any difference and no, my engine hasn't exploded yet :)

If I was still living in Asheville (Arden) I'd move to 5W-30 without hesitation. The 0W-20 as already mentioned is for CAFE in the US.

Manual for the GX460 in UAE states:

Not sure if you want that thick of an oil going into winter where you live?
I used to use thick oil on vehicles that were starting to burn oil back when I was a kid.
Why not just stay with factory spec's and/or synthetic? You'll still get hundreds of thousands of miles from your vehicle.

I’ve been using 0w-40 euro oil for the last several years. I change it at 8500 miles.
But the engine will go the distance no matter which oil you choose.
