Thanks. I have been reading your build thread and have to admire your precision and attention to detail. Would you mind sharing the methodology that you used for attaching the front windshield trim piece to your fiberglass top. It appears that you used thru bolts and painted the heads to match. It looks much better than rivets.

Thanks a lot, it has been a challenge to maintain the level of work that our shop put into the paint and body. It’s hard to not rush as the build finishes up. Our goal on this build was to add modifications but have them blend into the stock ‘72. Unless you are very familiar with a 40, alot will go unnoticed.

They are threaded rivets. Installed then painted to match the hardtop. This allows more adjustment as the top goes together.

One of the challenges on this truck has been working with parts from different 40s. The hardtop was and is a challenge from the start to get assembled.

Would you happen to recall the spec. for the size and source of the threaded rivets?

They were supplied by our shop. In all honesty, they can be any size/length that you want them to be.

Slow moving lately but got a few things done on the ‘72 today.

Working towards finalizing and cleaning grounds on the rear harness. I have to build some ground jumpers for the front turn signals and taillights.

I adjusted the clutch slave and rescaled the sniper tach to read 5k.

Dual hood prop rods installed,

And finally new side glass w/ @cityracer seals.

I'm assuming they match the newer style weather stripping - since the old stuff is NLA

I don’t have the dimensions, they copied a newer set that i had. City Racer seals were used.

Today is the 8 year anniversary of pulling this 40 off the side of a mountain in WV. Along the way we’ve learned a ton and met a lot of new friends. Hopefully we’ll have it out on the road this Spring.

Happy 2022, Mud. We are rounding third base on the ‘72. Doors and hinges are getting a last bit of attention before being green. They’ll have to sit for a few weeks but looking forward to getting them assembled and on the truck.

The resto shop is also building a 6.0 FJ60 from the ground up. I’ve been hanging around part time for a little over a year now and it is going to be a pretty legit build. I’ve spent the last few hours on the axles. It’s pretty awesome to have the work space after banging my head against the wall in my 2 car attached garage.

Thanks. It is Glasurit base/clear. There is alot of time put into the wheel.
