Parts are trickling in. This should be the last mechanical system that needs attention.

Jim C. rebuilt and added vacuum port for distributor. Thanks @FJ40Jim it looks great.

Looks outstanding...............Jim sure does great work-very happy with the carb he did for me as well!!

Josh

That hole just above and to the left of the idle mixture screw. Do you see a plug in it?

On the 71 carbs, that was originally a port for manifold vacuum.

I got to spend a few minutes on the power steering this morning.

I was able to replace the mounting stud with a bolt on the saginaw pump to gain more clearance for the rad. support rod and shroud. After bolting everything in place, the ps pulley will clear the shroud. The only area on the shroud that needs trimmed will be near the crank pulley.

In prep for the bodywork, I dug the body mount kit out and started install. All of the bolts came out clean except for the front 2. 1 is out the other is fighting tooth and nail. The stock bolt is long and goes through the threaded mount and into the floor support. There really isnt a good angle to work. Aside from the suspension bushings this has been the biggest challenge yet.

I think you have been reading my mail.

I am using the same body bushing set.
Same metal parts.
Rear sill from the same guy
We are about at the same spot on our builds.
Nice clean, fresh 2F engines.

Its funny how that works out. I research mud as much as possoble prior to buying parts.

I just got the go ahead to schedule the metalwork (we are hitting the easy button). If all goes well we should be driving this spring.

Are you doing the metal work, or subbing it out?

Spring is my goal as well, GSMTR to be exact. My wife is on board with going, so it makes it acceptable to spend countless hours in the garage playing with my 40.

Subbing out floors, rocker, sill and quarters.

There went your spring time frame!!!!!!! Most body guys take forever! (I have found out why, it takes hours to get things lined up and patched in place the right way.)

Hopefully you have a buddy lined up to help.

I have given up on most of the body guys around here. We use a shop that schedules work by the day and usually will have it out within a week. They have done a ton of work on my dads 60 and did the repair on the mainbeam, cowl and tranny cover on this one.
