When you order rear springs for an FJ43 you only have one choice from OME. The rears are built to cover all of the mid wheel base 40’s. So my 43 has the same springs you would order for a SWFJ45.
The springs are too stiff. I have already removed the 3rd leaf as recommended by ARB and @cruiser Outfitters. A year later and I would like a softer ride. Look at the springs pack. Do I remove leaf 2 or 3 or the shorter leaf #5 to soften it up back there?

Thanks

If it was me I would start with # 5

My eye was on #3 also.

It is simple to understand how a spring pack works to support a load? As the load increases the upper leafs flatten out and are supported by the leaf below it. They are connected in this way. To me that means that unless the load is maximized that the short lower leafs may never come into play? So removing a long upper leafs may make the rear pack more compliant to small road irregularities (bumps and rocks) yielding a softer ride?
Do my assumptions make sense?

It may also help if I stayed out of the LX!

does this translate to "I am shocked, but after i think about it now considering kissing and poking a pig?"
Don't think OP is literally going for LX570 feel, obviously unobtainable in a farming implement such as a 40 series

What my thought process was the way the leaves are stacked they support each other. Each one just a little shorter.
It's more extreme but I have seen where # 2 & 3 where removed, this allowed much more flex and a less stable on road ride.
It also caused the # 1 spring to fail literally snapping.

I also think it's # 6 & 7 that work the way your talking about.
Removing # 5 keep the springs working the way they were intended IMO
You can see that # 5 is making contact with # 4 so IMO it's working to carry load at all times. It's also not part of the spring rap/clamp so removing it won't change the dynamics of that ;)
#5 is probably the easiest to remove.
You asked 🤷‍♂️

Counting from the top. @Broski is under consideration!

If anyone reading this thread even thought you get a 40 series to ride like an LX I hope that they didn’t respond!
