Thanks, I have a great example in yours to look up at.

SHOOT!!!
You have way more patience with that stuff than I do! That DS panel looks nice a straight!
Also...You take a lot more time grinding down the welds which will pay off in the finish!

I learn as I go.

If any one is interested in how the difference between these 2 pictures was done, I will post a picture show later.

Started off with a sheet metal plate of 50 x 48 cm.
It is important to have at least one perfect square corner.
Took the messurements of the C post which is just under 35 cm.
Made a cut 11 mm deep 35 cm under the top.
Used some angle iron 2 peaces and clamped them in the vice withe the 35 x 1,1 cm in between.
Take care that you have a straith line for bending otherwise it won't fit later on.
Use a big hammer and slowly bend the steel, use a flat bar to hit in the end to prevent dents but still get a sharp edge.

Second bend is the part going underneath the sill.
I meassured the distance before it angles down past the rear bumper, it is at least 20 cm.
Made a cut to bend it just under the sill.
Same method of bending and after that I started shrinking the edge untill it matched the curve of the sill.
You can see the flat bar and hammer used for the bend.

Next is bending to match.
I just start bending the curve in on the anvil slowly not to get edges in my curve.
Fitting all the time to get the shape right.
Then I trimmed the upper edge to fit the excisting part.

Next fase is to get the corner to connect to the rest of the fender.
For this I took a peace of angle iron and clamped it on the top of the fender where the 2 peaces overlapped.
It runs to the floor so it provides me with a good support in a line down.
I then clamped the sheet to the angle iron. I can then draw the cutting lines from the inside.
Next fase is getting the bottom in the right shape.
To be continued.

Lookin good. I'll need to make some 1/4s like that some day too.

Got to spend an hour on the cruiser today so I made a plate to close up the C pillar in the wheelwell.
I plan to glue it in place, it has no structural function just to keep the dirt and moist out.

I wish i had your skills, your patience, and when your finish, your shorty 40 :)

She looks pretty good. Im jealous...

Question though, in post #286, picture 4, what is that blue thingamajiggy? Is it a bender or something?

Subscribed.

Thoroughly impressed with patience and efforts. Going to be sweet when it finished.

It is a shrinker/stretcher. You can shrink or stretch parts the steel to bend them into a shape.

Amazing! Great job so far.

thanks for the props. It is waiting for me to finish the honey-do list for the :princess: so I can continue.
I'll be back on it in a couple of weeks.
