Not much to update about, last weekend my brother in law was in Germany with his mother, so we had to visit him.
Made a bet with him I will get my wife, his sister, to visit him in Boulder CO.
If we get to that I will post and try to meet some of you guys.
Tryed to find CuSi3 TIG rods to solder the fenders. Got one quote for € 200,- for 2,5Kg, minimum package. Called an other and got a quote of €100 ,- for 5 Kg.
This cruiser stuff is adding up fast I know that by now but it shure pays to look arround.

Some work done over the weekend.
Continued mocking up the right fender.
Ordered the CuSi3 tig rods see how that works.

Michael your work continues to impress me....keep it up!!

Took her out of the garage, clean it, the garage that is, and worked on the right side.
Took the rocker panel off, it was glued on by the PO.
Found some more work underneath.

Then I put all the hardware on the car to see what to cut and of course see how it looks.
And a pic of the left side beam, have to copy that to the right.

Played with the copper silicium rods today to use in sted of welding.
It doesn't enter so much heat in the metal as welding does.
Here are my first test welds, they look ugly in the picture but in real life its not that bad.
Keep in mind this is just some uncleaned scrap metal.

Added an other patch to it.
It is just like TIG welding only with lower temps and the added metal getting liquid more sudden so it needs better timing.

The 3'' square tube concerns me ! unless it directly attaches to the body mount.
This could end up separating your truck in half, especially if wheeled. Try to follow the original design.
Looks like you got a great deal, his and hers cruisers !!

Cheers

If you look closely you can see on the left side the body mount. On the right side there is a temp mount I used in the beginning to adjust the body, getting it level.
Attached to the 4"(which it is) is a frame to the back and it is welded all the way through on to the front. This was ap part of the PO design I could live with. It appears to be stronger then original as long as the weight is contained.

In the end it is the a matter of connecting the different boxes and reinforcing the pivot points. That is why Toyota used the reinforcements behind the rocker panels.

Looking great man!!!!
Hell of a lot of sheet work.

Yeah...well...they come with practice.
Looks like youre trying to run a bead?

No that is getting better, this is soldering with copper-silicium. It is very sensitive on the TIG set-up.
I plan to tack weld the sheet and then solder the beads. It uses 500 degr. Less.

Some more work done on the right rear.
Got the C pillar fitted and made some holes in the crossbeam for seat brackets and body mount.
Everything is almost kined up now so with decent weather next saturday I could start welding stuff in.
