A co worker has flipped a couple 80’s and done alright, but his latest one I’m scratching my head on. Good condition, but 280k on the clock. He just lifted it and is getting ready to put some other “expedition” upgrades in hopes of pulling $20k on final sale. He’ll likely be 15m in to it.
15 million is a lot! 😂

Still a good looking truck (though under-powered) 😉

I have to disagree.

I drove a 40th anniversary fzj80 from Buena Vista, CO to Golden, CO today at 70-80 mph until I hit the snow. It has an ARB front bumper, ARB drawers, Slee sliders and rear bumper, is running on 35s with 4.56 gears; and has an aux tank (both aux and main started full of fuel in BV), a Dobinson’s 4” lift with the MRA shocks, Tarrox calipers and rotors (brakes for days) and …a freshly rebuilt TRD supercharger.

I never really wanted for more power. It always accelerated nicely uphill, and quite a bit of the first half of that trip was over 9000’ ASL. Trout Creek Pass out of BV is 9,346’, Red Hill Pass is 10,051’.

I paid… less than half what that white 80 went for.

Drove a 92 around BV to get coffee. It was also on 35s. Now that truck was underpowered.

Hard to believe some of the prices lately. Not a pig but in same lineage.

Dang, 80k?

@gonzopancho Sounds like the 4.56 gears are good? Would you recommend those over 4.88s with 35" tires?

Haven't seen a pig pic on this thread for a couple of pages so here we go. Not for sale, although if someone wants to pay the kind of money that 80 went for...

Not specifically pig related, but I am sure you all need some zinc plated drive shafts…you can reach out to timecapsulela on IG to get these. I once asked him about a reconditioned steering wheel for my 1969 that he had advertised and he only wanted $3500 😎

I did wake up in the middle of the night last night, slap my forehead, and wonder where I might be able to get my u-joints plated.

How does that affect the steel? I would think negatively

Fat bastard has a fresh engine bored 1mm over, 4.88s and 315s and I soooooo want more top end power. Low end is fine, but I still struggle to pass. Maybe I'm pampered by the tundra's 5.7
