Local lexus dealer said their T-belt/WP service was $2,700 for my 2007 LX470 VVTI engine. He mentioned the VVTI engine was more costly? That check with anyone? Last time I had the Service done on my 2000 Land Cruiser it was only $1,200.

Anyone recently had this service done at their local lexus dealer, and if so, what was the cost?

Thanks

Seems pretty standard for Lexus dealership pricing. Local Toyota dealership quoted me about $1400 when I had found one that was in need of the service.

VVTi engine is exactly the same as non-VVTi for the timing belt/WP. Find another place.

my local toyota dealership was 500 for just labor i provided parts. It was some special they had going.

Get a breakdown of parts and labor.

Slee's 90k service on a 100 series is somewhere north of $2k. They're not gouging anyone given how extensive their job is.

Doing the job's bare minimum requirements and doing all that you should probably do are two very different things.

For any of us to have an opinion, we need more details.

I had my (formerly) ‘05 Sequoia (vvt) at the dealer to replace a recalled airbag sensor last December. The tech noticed a coolant leak and assumed it was the water pump. Of course a timing belt was added and since it had 266k on the ticker cam seals were recommended as well.

$3400.
I paid $3750 for the whole vehicle.

The leak was actually coming from above the water pump, the thermostat housing o-ring. I think it’s $3-4 but my buddy had an extra one so he gave it to me. Took the opportunity to replace the tensioner and accessory belt as well. Cured the leak.

The work being done is only as good and honest as the person who is doing it, regardless if they work at a dealership or not. Find a highly recommended independent shop if you can’t do it yourself.

So the dealer service seems above and beyond, just not sure how much is necessary. Vehicle is a 2007 but only has 70k miles on it. Mainly doing the service because of the age, even though its close on miles to the 90k.

$2,700 gets you the following:
-Timing Belt
-Cam Seals
-Thermostat
-Tensioners
-Water Pump
-Crank Seals
-Drive Belts
-Idlers

Seem like a decent deal from a dealer?

went in to get an oil change on my 2006.... they of course told me due to my leak(gasket valve, which I knew and was going to do it later) said they had to take the entire engine apart, do the timing belt, water pump, gave me a bill for 3k. I just had timing belt done weeks prior..... hate the dealership.

NOOOOOO. Not a decent deal from a dealer but exactly what you are going to get when going to a dealer. Don't go to a Lexus dealership to solve your woes.

I asked my local Lexus dealership (Dayton, OH) about the t-belt/water pump service on my 06' over the winter and was quoted ~$1700

Cam seals would be unnecessary at this time unless they are leaking. On a VVT the cams have to come out, to replace the seals- much more labor. (Maybe find out the flat rate hours for RR cam seals on VVT and negotiate that number off the initial quoted price)

The remainder of the list is on track with what I would do at 90k- or 10years. Just make sure youre getting genuine Toyota parts- that they dont cut any corners and use aftermarket (it does happen). You’ll pay a little higher labor rate with Lexus but I suspect if something goes wrong with the work you’ll have better chance of getting resolution.

And as far as I know can seals aren't part of any standard service. T belt/water pump should be 1,200-1,500. Sounds high. Now a full 90k where all fluids are being flushed joints lubed, filter replaced would be closer to what was quoted. But still high.

Well there ya go, that makes a lot more sense. The cam and crank seals are likely what's adding a ton of labor to that job. Ask them to take out the labor and parts for the cam and crank seals and I bet the price drops nearly $1k.

I wouldn't bother replacing those seals at 70k. I'd also wait until closer to 90k to do the service.

Finally, procure your seals from a discount online dealer (IE McGeorge, Norwalk, EB, Partsouq, etc...). The dealership should allow genuine parts sourced elsewhere. My local dealer has a markup on all parts of ~75-500%. That's not a typo. Dealer markups can be criminal.

I just did mine with break on labor and nearly cost for parts and replacing pretty much everything on the front of engine like noted here and I paid, $1900

Can you go back to the place that did your 2000 Land Cruiser for $1200? I surely wouldn't ever go back to a place that quoted $2700 on a 70k mile vehicle - for anything, ever.

Can’t go back as I no longer live in Florida to get it for that price.

All started when I went down the rabbit hole of how to fix my SAIS because I’m pulling a P1442 code for the closed valve. Been debating if I want to do the $190 Hewitt bypass or just get in done right as I’m a little OCD about things. Dealer was only quoting $500 for just the valves, or $1300 if it was the pump. $1800 if I get the whole system done.

Then I thought maybe just get the timing belt service done since the vehicle is 13 years old and never had It changed even though it only has 72k miles.

Good thing though is right now the dealer has 20% off for the whole 90k service which would save my $540. $2700 down to $2160. Ideally I would like to try and negotiate all the work for a better price, but not sure how feasible that is at a dealer. I have been calling for quotes from other local shops but they never call back with a price and I’m losing my patience.

I just had my 90k service completed at the dealership. Timing belt, water pump, drive belt, differential fluid, Brake fluids AHC, power steering, transmission flush, AND replace the front axles. $2610, I am on the east coast. The timing belt, water pump portion was no more than $800 of that price.

^ not a bad price but I don't see a water pump gasket, thermostat, or the 2 o rings that go with the water pump/ thermostat housing listed.
