I just desmogged by ‘82 last month and am so glad I did. The seat of the pants feel is pretty strong. Are you still planning on keeping smog?

Its not my truck or I would. I think the new owner may do it on his own but It runs great and I’m not pushing it at all

Done. Not bad. In fact I went ahead and did a 2F here I have on the engine stand since I had all the tools ready. Outside the truck this is a 10 minute job

The key to making this easy IN the truck is a good right angle drill setup.

I ran my Bit into my chuck for the taps with a 3/8” drive and used my Milwaukee driver. This made it super easy. All the angle drivers I found needed a bit that had a hex end to it.

Problem is, the bits for 5/16” x 18 plugs are goofy ass sized “H” bits and they dont have a hex base.

I was playing musical 60’s today and fired up R2D260 and moved it 100 yards.

As I was walking back I found a trail.

Holy hell I got lucky on this one. The oil galley plug blew out. I was not planning on driving it until the painter called and that means it would have happened on the road and I would not have noticed until it was too late.

Ugh.

Wow man, lucky...BTDT. The galley plug blew on my 3FE years ago. I had just driven across town on the highway, then a few miles on busy streets, pulled into a parking lot, parked and shut it off. Got out and it looked like an OJ murder (allegedly) scene running out underneath the truck.
Think the plug popped out just as I was parking.

Glad you dodged the bullet all Matrix like.

What are you having the painter do?

The roof was never painted so it’s got some damage. It’s going to be repaired and painted factory silver.

We are also painting the bottom of the doors where the factory silver is still there.

No pinstripes will he harmed.

I was wrenching on the Oddball 80 today when I got the call that R2D2 was ready for pickup.

The roof was in pretty rough shape under the primer. He worked out as much of the old bondo and rust before adding epoxy and a bit of metal.

The brand new OEM chrome trim and the snake blinders added back really make it pop.

The factory paint was redone up to the bottom of the stripes as well as around and under the grill as well.

Home was a mix of interstate and backroads. All systems are go. R2D2 purred like a kitten at 2900 rpm all the way back

Got a few housekeeping items to do like a knuckle job and oil change before this one goes home.

For now it’s tucked away with Ole Blue in the corn crib

This has now moved to my #1 favorite Cruiser color scheme. I totally dig it

@wngrog any updates on this?

The Yankee owner does not want it up in the salt and filth of winter so it’s sitting here.

We did decide to put a Sniper on it so I’ll do that soon enough.
