Well, can't figure out how to link the video....but the celebration is due to the Moviestar is running again, for the first time in 6+ years...

Has steering, but need to bleed the brakes and clutch before it moves....and some lights to hook up...and fenders to install....and seats....and headliners...and glass.....and.....and....and...

What incredible work and patience. 10 thumbs up:bounce:

Sanded down the cracks, cleaned the old vinyl

After fitting the new cap and installing

Tied up all the loose ends in the fuel system...however, I might replace 4 of the vent hoses, a little crusty.

Dash and steering in place for the final (i hope) time. All underdash work is now done, minus the radio.

Awesome! Nice work.

Frustrating day of fighting with the seats and seatbelts.....someone explain to me why the seatbelt bolts are SAE and not metric? They are all 7/16x20. Two of the seat track bolts are also SAE.

Worst part of the day was pulling the seats out of storage, and realizing I did not take the rear upper seat in to get painted with the rest of the truck.....damn.

Also, I do not like the way the front seat sits. It seems tilted forward to me, and has major clearance issues at the rear mounts. If the track sits flush, a bolt hits the pedestal, if you shift it to clear the bolt, the rear mount has a 1/8-1/4 gap..anyone got pictures of their seat track mounts?

My seat belts and seat bolts were 11-1MM, I needed to buy a tap to chase all the threads after I got undercoating in all of them so I could reuse all the original bolts.

FYI: 11-1 mm is ~26 TPI and 0.4331” very close to 7/16-20

That seat does look like you side off if it was wet:bang:

I could not even find 11mm bolts. But I did chase the threads with a 7/16x20 tap, almost no resistance, so yeah...they are awfully close.

I think I am going to add some spacers, it feels too awkward to sit on as it is....not that they were that comfortable to start with...but we can certainly make improvements along the way?

It’s my understanding DOT requirements are"7/16/Grade8 or equivalent/stronger" for seat belts and seat mounting hardware so Toyota chose “equivalent” 11MM.

Like you said finding 11mm bolts is not an easy task so 7/16-20 should clean the 11mm holes and still have reasonably good thread engagement if the originals were misplaced or damaged.

not the best pics, sorry
here's how the seat in the pickle fits. this is in a 74 body
you can tell how far back it leans by where the back sits in comparison to the back window

and here is how the seat in the 76 pig fit

Seat tracks look completely different, as does the side of the seat. On the Moviestar, the side of the tracks are outside the vinyl, on yours, vinyl covers the outside. I went back and looked at the pictures of the 78, and the tracks are different still.
