I assume you welded together a split tail gate and did that? Did you use the split hinges and modify?
Yes Sir.....it was the original barn doors and upper hatch. Welded a piece in the center to make it a wider piece and into a tailgate. Just moved the hinges and cut the one down that is pictured in the center to make it look normal. The latches are from a early model Fj45.

This is the same idea I have eventually on mine. Thanks for confirming it works

Started with an idea not knowing someone else had already proved it. Check at @matzell

Decided to fill in the two center AC vent holes. I’ll be making a center console with two AC vents and a heater vent in each side of the console.

I think that you will like your vents on the outer edge of the dashboard. I only have the center vents and the center stays nice and cool but the outside is hot.

My two friends tell me that I’m crazy to wheel this thing after it’s done

No way. Mine has been on the road for a year and people used to say that about it when I first backed it out of the driveway. It now has quite a few rock chips and fade from the engine, and I am okay with that. They are way too much fun to drive to not wheel.

Amen to that.
I worked really hard to end up with nice paint, and someday I might look forward to doing it again. Until then I intend to wheel it!

I get some funny looks when I tell people I’m treating it like Bill Cosby would, depending on what generation they’re from. No im not giving it a roofie. In his 70’s stand up routine referencing his kids he’d say “I brought you into this world and I can take you out.”

You built it, you can fix it!

No way i would ever put mine in the dirt  .

Thanks to @matzell and the “Lynchburg Lemonade” for the inspiration and part numbers for the lift gate cables. Made some mounts and got everything mounted up. Thanks again Rob.

Which way is correct for the hood hinges? The grey area in the picture is the cowl. Also, is there a drivers side and passenger side hinge?
