Hi all. I have been working for several days now to track down an electrical issue in the ignition system of a friend's '65 FJ40 / F135 motor. See link: https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=145317
I finally was able to fix the electrical issue, but now I need to make sure I am setting the timing correctly. Normally I would not create a second post just for this question, but time is of the essence.
I located the 7* BTDC line on the flywheel, and lined up the timing mark accordingly (see picture below- do I have it correct?). Slipped the distributor back in place, and made sure it is seated properly. Rotated the distributor so the points are just about to open. Verified that the rotor is facing the #1 contact on the cap. Put the cap back on and reattached the vacuum line. Aside from fine tuning the timing with a light, is that all I need to do? Big thanks in advance for your help.
