With that said (A) don’t count on me as a party coordinator (B) if I show it will be last minute and my route out will be based on the most fun having and won’t include base camping.

Not trying to nominate you for coordinator, it just seemed like folks liked the idea of doing the Relic Run route after you mentioned it and that you were getting maps. You became the subject matter expert.
I don't know of any base camp options since we moved on from the Uintas/Soapstone option...

Now that I'm bummed out about the lost of life, let me get this off my chest. Due to circumstances beyond my control, we can't make this year's party. I'm needed here at home, just that simple. We'll be back next year. The wagon is ready and we're ready, just can't leave right now. I look forward to following along.

Darn Ron, I hope you guys aren't dealing with loss of life issues. Hopefully you just have some goats trying to drive equipment when they shouldn't be, or some such issue that needs your attention...

Sorry to hear about your cat, and sorry for what is going on in your world, Ron. I hope for the best.

So according to the internet machine, there is gas at the south end off I-80 just before the trail starts, and one at Grouse Creek. They are about 116 miles away from each other long the RR18 route. There is more gas off I-84 in Snowville which is approx. 90 miles from Grouse Creek. It is about 265 miles along the route into Brigham City. Snowville takes us about 18 miles off course.View attachment 1990514

Thanks for posting this up with labels. Not sure how this corresponds with the stopping points, but I may cut the corner around the NW corner of the Great Salt Lake.

My original plan was to head over to SLC on Monday and see some kinfolk. Now that I won't be back from France until Saturday the 15th, and Father's Day is the 16th, I will probably paxk and prep on Monday the 17th and then drive over. I do want to see my kin, so I will probably try to get back to SLC the morning of the 22nd.

Thanks man. He was a pretty awesome cat. I had him for 18 years. He used to sleep next to me. We would put him in the Pig with the dogs and go to the drive-in movies, the guy selling tickets was always like, “Oh, you brought your cat, eh?”

Sending positive thoughts your way as you deal with your big dog...

Last post on this, and then I will stop boring you guys with stories about my cat. I found this picture of him in the Pig. Before I got the rear seat recovered...

That’s a party🤗. Is there a fund to donate to for the BBQ.

How many pigs will there be to BBQ and take up trail space? Anyone have a tally on that.

We can figure out a BBQ fund after we have devoured all the food!

Let’s never combine J Mack and expert in the same sentence again, I’m a lot of things but expert isn’t one of them especially when it comes to navigating.
If we’re able to make the party I’ll help you with anything you need. I have a few big projects that are requiring way too much of my fun having time and I don’t want to make commitments I can’t keep and let you guys down without notice.
What is the range of your pig with the stock fuel tank?

I figure I can cover 200 miles (20 gallons x 10 MPG) w/o getting too uptight.

Our best bet for this, and future, Pig Parties is if the collective intelligence of the hive/swarm/herd all puts in their knowledge and problem solving skills. It sounds like folks wanted to hit new locations every year, and not join an already running event. That is going to take some figuring out, especially when life events (work, snow, etc) throw a curve ball at a few of us.

So just to clarify what is intended as the itinerary for the main group -

Meet at LCHM on Tuesday
Stay Tuesday night at SLC KOA
Wednesday - ?
Thursday - ?
Friday - ?

I know a few people are making their own plans after Tuesday to roam for several days then head home. Remembering the snowpack throwing a wrench in the works for the original area that was intended as a base camp area. Anything new in that regard develop?

Amen, halalooya, and s#@t howdy. It’s just a potluck party through and through, everyone brings something to the table or not. Ideas, suggestions, historic experience, warnings, hair brained schemes, food, libations, elixirs, hookers, pet roosters, spare parts, good friends, no expectations, no hard feelings and no iou’s.

Remember, pigs love you unconditionally.

Let’s get this one under our (steel) belts first. But we’ve had fun both in Death Valley and on the Mohave Road historic trail. Before you worry about heat, it’s 71 degrees mid afternoon in Shoshone today, midway between the two places and site of a nice campground.

Does anyone know if we can bury our #2 on these trails or do we have to brown bag it? Just trying to be prepared.

There are some vault toilets along your routes (depending which route you're all doing now, I'm still not caught up :D )

Museum is good to go for the evening of June 18th. We can do a formal tour starting about 6pm? And then dinner (there are options nearby or something we perhaps bring to the museum) and then have the museum open until 9-10 to allow folks to socialize and browse the collection?

Sounds great Kurt, thank you!

I have been chatting up the BBQ idea if that is still an option....
