So I am debating on what tires I want to do on my fj55. right now it has some road 750 r16 tires on split rims. Witch I am a little nervous about changing. I am either going to buy 15 inch rims or the city racer 16inch rims. I AM NOT DOING A LIFT. I am going to try and keep suspension and the look stockish. I am wondering if any one has pictures of 700r15 tires like the power king super tracktion or deestone versions under their fj55. I may also try 30x9.50 tires under it but that size seems kinda pricey for what it is. have you seen the price of BFG all terrains in that size?? 225$ per tire is kinda ridiculous.

If I do the city racer wheels, Ill do 750 r16 tires.

Before somebody gives me their woes about bias plys - I live on an island and never am really driving too far. and rarely am I going over 25mph. anyways I would love some people to post some pictures so I can get an idea of what it will look like.

Thanks!

I know you said no lift, but a 1.5" cheap shackle lift with 2* front shims (and you want new shocks anyways.....50 year old shocks are worn out) and some 31x10.5 on stock steelies would be about perfect!

stock steel wheels are almost free these days, I would not spend $ on 16s

Shocks have been replaced at some point recently and are good. I will probably get greesable shackles and pins at some point in the future. But I am not really looking to lift it at all at the moment. I really like that this one is unmolested in the suspension department.

Yeah I have been looking around for stock steel rims. I should put a link to the city racer ones. they look oem. but they give you more options with the tire size being 16s. I am a fan of the skinny pizza cutter oem tire and in a 16 rim you can put a 750r16 tire thats like a 32 skinny. But the 16 inch rims are more money. I really was hoping somebody had a picture of one with 700r15 tires (29 inch). the tires I have on it right now are 750 R16s on split rims. but they are like highway tires.

i dnt have pics but have you considered the 235/85-16 ? if you go to a 16" rim its another no lift option.

p.s. dont be shy about changing the splits yourself, thats what they were made for and its not hard at all, sometimes a little fight but not hard.

Look at factory advertisement.

Thats a good point I should just go for it its the cheapest option just fill them up with them slid under the shed or something haha. I gotta look into tubes and liners if I go that way. I think I put 235 85 16s on my kzj78 when I had it.

33x10.5 fits but they rub on sharp turns.
Hasn't been a problem and it gets me a bit of what they call rubber overdrive.
I don't live on an island and I will occasionally drive 1000+ miles on the roads in a trip so being able to cruise comfortably at 60 is nice...
