Your 43 was two or three month old when a roof tile fell on the the top during a storm.
Price for a new Toyota soft top was 4500 DM. *
My car insurance transferred the money to me and I stuck some bike patches

on the top & it worked for 34 years... and would still work. :)
Cheers
*forgotten: To explain the price a bit more, the price for a new BJ43 at this time (an import from Belgium )Toyota never sold them in
Germany was 24.000 DM **, the roll bar & 205x16 tyres included.
** minus 3% cash payment. :)

To classify the price :
Price of a new Porsche 911 SC Coupé in 1980 was 46.950 DM.
Mercedes-Benz G 240 Diesel in 1980 about 32.000 DM
BJ40 Toyota Germany about 27.000 DM

:hmm:... amazing Dom Smith ... Geld sinnlos aus dem Fenster werfen ? ... sorry ;)
I put real glass in my soft top doors ( same size like the original windows)
a construction with aluminium. Covered the doors with the soft top parts .
Looked from the outside like the Toyota soft top doors
You could use these "glass doors" very well ....easy ice scraping in winter before driving.
Easy to store like the original soft top doors.
But this truck was used .... not a garage Queen.:)

Got the idea when we met some guys & gals (at the beginning of the eighties) at the french atlantic coast/Normandy
with a US military truck. They had built a camper on the bed hidden under the canvas.... amazing!

.... during our trips we spent the nights in the 43 double bottom .... amazing! :)

@Economist LC76 , are those the last ones or can you still get those? Where?

Oh, yes, for sure! I suppose I have Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela, to thank for screwing up his country so bad. $50 including shipping was a true bargain.
Looking for the winch cover for a pto winch on a 1984 BJ42. I think the part # is 38286-60020. Any idea where I can find a NEW one?
