This part is OEM alright I've seen it before and I've seen it on the microfiche. The part you're talking about is pictured here and it's on the lower hinges only

I still have that rain gutter hood protector on my 82, but as you can see I am missing the rear view mirror stabilizer :)

@Downey can confirm, but I believe it is a dust cover for a chebby bellhousing with an old school, bellhousing mounted starter.
Nice call a quick search tell's me it a 1955-62 Chevrolet Bellhousing Front Dust Cover

Don't know the part number but I cut one out of some 1/8" rubber and used a spot of silicone to hold it on. Works just fine.

I hope I'm in the right place. Does anyone know the name of the rubber thing that goes on the bottom of the hood support?

Better still a part number or a supplier would be stellar

Thanks

Can't find any part that fits on the end of the hood support rod. Can't see any reason for one. Any time the vehicle is moving under it's own power hood should be closed and rod clipped to the hood.

I wondered because my FJ40 is currently in the shop and they put a large amount of masking tape around the hole that the support slots in. I figured surely there must be some kind of rubber thing that goes here. So I am specifically talking about not damaging the paintwork when it's not running and the hood is up. I just called the bodyshop where my other FJ40 is to ask to check if it has anything, they say nope.

I will stick with the rubber washer then

Thanks also to Ming89FJ62 for the parts diagram.

Why isn’t someone reproducing this part? I’d think it would be perfect for 3D printing.
SOR sells them.
