Now that I put a couple thousand miles on the new engine/tranny, the transfer case gasket started leaking. I checked the thru bolts and sure enough they were loose. There are 7 bolts and you can only access 3 or 4 from outside. So, gotta pull the tranny and reseal it. then I can tighten the offending bolts

Wow....I can't believe it's been a year since doing the H55F....Sorry about no updates.

It runs great. Just days after the install I took the 60 out to Colorado for a week and ran Imogene Pass, Cinnamon Pass, Cumberland Pass, Tin Cup Pass, Georgia Pass and a whole lot of two lanes and camping...I love the drive ability of the H55F with the 33's.

My summer project this year with Exrsa1's help, is 4.56 gears and ARB's in the front and rear.

I highly recommend the H55F to anyone.

Sorry, but the wheels/tires and 4spd all sold.

Take care.

Sorry to bump the 10 year old post, but wondering if you still have this tranny? I saw what I think is the same 60 in pictures of your plow Pig over in the Pig section.

If yes, wondering if it was worth the $? How many miles have you put on it now?

Thanks!

Howdy-

I still have the 60 and it now lives in the Colorado mountains. It still runs the H55 and all the other goodies with no problems. Given what I paid for it new 10 years ago it was well worth the swap. Good luck on your project!

Just out of curiosity are all the parts on the original list still available? Maybe i will run each number and check.

Thanks! Do you know how many miles you have put on that box?

I want to say +/- 60,000 miles. The only issue I’ve had with the whole upgrade is a squeaky OEM throw out bearing. I rebuilt the t-case when I installed it all and haven’t had any problems with the trans. When I swap out motors I’ll put in a new throw out bearing.

Yes. Those and the ARB lockers (front and rear) were installed with the H55, so approx 60k ago.
