Anybody running General Grabber X3? I would love to hear some feedback on these tires.

@Taco2Cruiser did a mud tire review a while back and mentioned those.

@Atwalz - I found it - it was one of my threads - look on the first page

Hi guys

Does anyone have 20x12 inch Wheels on their LC200?

I can't find any photos jus wondering how it will look....
I recall the tire size on the 20's 285x60. Tires are Nitto Trail G2's. The 18's are 18x9 20 offset with 32.5's. Tires are Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Great tire BTW.

One more with the 18's. 18's are definitely my choice for off and on-road comfort. BTW, You mentioned 20x12 in your original post. If you go with 20's consider the 12" width to be too wide.

Now THAT'S a bike rack!!!!

A good friend of mine ran those General X3s for about 2k miles before getting rid of them.

They were pretty terribly in mud, not any better in rocks than a lot of the other tires we have ran over the years. On slick, wet paved roads, they didn't really provide a planted feel. I've driven around his truck with a coupe different tires on it before, and I had to agree with his impressions on it.

General is not a bad tire company, I don't think they make anything terrible, I just don't think they shine in any catagory either, and the X3 was no different.

Their name is rather perfect in my opinion, just a general tire for general tire work, nothing great.

That's disappointing to hear. Guess I'll be going with my tried and true Toyo MT's yet again. :( They've never let me down but just figured I'd try something a little different.

I suggest you into Cooper STT PROs.
I ran nitto trail grapplers in 35x12.5x17 for 50,000 miles. Very similar to your toyo mt in weight. Very nice cusnge up as the coopers are way less weight per wheel

I've got Trail Grapplers on my Denali HD and have been pleased with them too. 28k on them now and that's on a big truck pulling a 38' 5th wheel! I had a set of Cooper STT's on a Tacoma and they were a good tire but they sucked the life out of the little Taco. I'm sure a 200 would be unphased by them. The STT Pro's have good puncture resistance when aired down?

ETA: I had regular STT's on my Taco. That's why I was asking about the Pro's. They didn't exist back when I bough the STT's.

I've yet to air them down. Can't answer that for you. The weight reduction comes at a cost and was a concern for me and that it may show up in durability but I've yet to hear anyone bashing them for a weak carcass. Local jeep shop here loves them. My ride weighs more than a jeep but these guys also get into some big narly rocks and come out unscathed. If I ruin one I'll let you know ha

I've put them down to 12 psi, and ran them over some sharp rocks on hill climbs. They create a very nice, flat and long footprint.

The sidewall has some sharp edges to the lugs that can get sliced. I ran my current STT Pros alongside a BFG KO2, and in loose gravel steep hill climbs, they were both great, but the KO2 sidewall definetly slides over rocks, where the STT Pros grabs onto whatever is around and tries to hold on.

Both of those tire designs have their positives and negatives. The STT Pro being more mud oriented, obviously you want a sidewall lug design to want to grab everything around it. On lots a rocks, I see that maybe being problem.

That said, if you want a good mud tire, the only real mud tire is an Interco Super Swamper TSL/Bogger, everything else is an all terrain compared to those tires.

In my small opinion, if you want a tough tire, You definitely already have a great tire, but out of all the tires I've ran,

Interco TSL Radial/SX/bogger/IROK
Goodyear MT/R old and new/Duratrac
BFG KO2/KM2/Baja
Toyo M/T and Nitto Trail
General Grabber
Cooper STT Pro
Then the various ones friends run

I've never popped one, so is the weight of a Toyo/Nitto worth it? I don't know if I'm lucky, but I think these newer tires are all pretty good in the durability department. I'm not treating them good either, lots of sharp rocks. I figured tires is the one thing that I have to buy again, so I'm okay taking a risk on a tire I may not like.

But yea know, I've never bought the same tire twice. They all have their attributes, some are pretty close to perfect, but they all have their flaws, only way to know, is to step into the unknown.

Besides... isn't that why we drive land cruisers, to go where we haven't been yet?

Had to share even though it's not going to be put on a cruiser.

Got a Warn Tabor 10K winch, wireless remote, synthetic rope and Warn winch hook for the Patrol. Also some Hella Xenon aux lights, :D always fun when there's a big box in the trunk.
