Sealing upper and lower oil pans and changing associated gaskets and o rings.

Work in progress. Finished sealing upper and lower oil pan. Also, ordered oil level sensor gasket. Painted lower oil pan cherry red. Painted engine block and valve cover to silver. Drained ATF and removed AT pan/filter. AT gasket and filter ordered. Also, replace AC line o-rings.

Haven'tent had the head off mine yet (190k and hoping it see's 250k before it has to be opened up) and hadn't noticed how clean and simple the engine, and engine compartment are. I've seen many head gaskets done with the intake and everything still in the engine compartment shoved off to the side, but this looks pleasantly clean. Doing good work man! She's!

Started removing interior and clean the gunk build up from 22 years.

Some of the same stuff I plan to do to my 94 as well!

Awesome start! You certainly are ambitious! How difficult was the dash to remove?

Removing dash was half a day of work and another half to put it back. While installing it back, I forced it in and caused a crack in windshield. Best is to remove steering wheel as well. Also take pictures of it while disassembling it. I did not take any and left with few extra screws. It's probably got cup full of screws. While I was in there I cleaned all duct work. It's lot of work. Spray painting plastic pieces is easy. But, vinyl pieces are challenging. Let's see how they hold up. If necessary I might wrap them carbon fiber vinyl wrap.

I plan to recreate the leather door trim pieces and reuse as many parts as possible. Basically, replace cloth with leather or black vinyl.

Fired up motor today for few seconds. It started. Now I got to work on exhaust and wait for tranny filter and gasket.

Installed snorkel and primed fender for time being. Hood is installed. Removed old cats by cutting them. Ordered Magna flow cats. Also ordered few other coolant hoses and air pump gaskets.

Hey @Atwalz I've been on the 200 side with you and now also recently picked up an 80 series (a 91 HDJ81). You are really diving in to this project!!
Awesome work!

Thanks @NLScooby, I am deep into this now. Already did lot of work. I am shopping around for exhaust.

Thinking about doing Discovery seat conversion. ummmm........

Ditched the land rover discovery seat idea. I am going with racing seats of some sort. I did some work this past weekend.

Replace the damaged injector plug female sockets.
Repair engine block coolant temp sensor wire connector
New oil pressure switch
LED dash lights and replaced all shift gear indicator lights
Remove fender flares
Greased and rebuild driver side front steering knuckle and bearings/seals.
Adjust Valves and order new shims. Re-torque head bolts

jesus, you did all that in one weekend? this would take a year.

My oil pressure gauge is showing no pressure. I have to diagnose this issue now. Motor started fine and then I turned it off as there is no oil pressure. I installed new oil pressure switch. Dash gauge is also in working order. There are two female connectors near the pressure switch but only one male connector on the oil pressure switch. I will inspect the oil pressure relief valve operation on the oil cooler under the exhaust manifold for the first three cylinders. I will take it apart later today and see what is going on.

I repaired the connectors for the oil pressure switch and pressure reads at the start up and drops after motor is at operating temperature. I think switch is bad. Oil pressure relief valves are fine. Oil pressure appears again at higher rpm.

I added CDL switch. Last weekend Oxygen Sensor code appeared after new exhaust/Cats were installed. I replaced the old sensor with the Bosch sensor and code appear again. I returned them to Autozone and order Denso from ebay. Denso Part No. 234-4520. Waiting for them to arrive by this weekend. Crossing my fingers, I should be able to pass smog. While the motor was running rough due to the oxygen sensor codes, I went through all the vaccum hoses and replaced them all with new ones. Replaced spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. I unplug the Bosch sensor and motor ran fine. I am hoping new denso oxygen sensor will fix the remaining issues about the emissions and rough idle.

Also installed new AC compressor, AC drier and few new O-rings. AC charging is still pending and AC belt will be installed later.

Oxygen sensors are installed. Now Code 55 appeared. Ordered knock sensor. The motor is running smooth. Due to knock sensor acceleration is poor.

Edit: Note that the knock sensor wires have a shielding wiring. When repairing the wire connector, do not splice the shielding wire, otherwise, you may run into issues.
