You in the garage? Or waiting to un-wrap new Welder in morning?:):pig:

My wife isn't THAT nice. Lol. I did however get a ceiling mounted 220v garage heater though. That alone helps in this climate!

Nothing new as of yet, we had a few weeks of subzero temps so i didnt make it out to the garage, on top of that i ran out of welding wire the last go around with the pig. Im currently at the crossroads of deciding to pick up new welder or picking up some welding wire and continuing with my terrible craftsman welder. If i decide to pick up a new welder i'll have to take a break for another month or so. (which with the temperatures isnt that bad of an idea)

Also still trying to decide how to go at the front body mount, but im not too worried about that. cut cut cut.

If the weather is bad, take a break and save up for a nicer welder. Is the Craftsman fluxcore only? You'd love MIG welding with gas. For a budget friendly welder, I like my Hobart Handler 187 (or whatever the equivalent model is nowadays).

Currently looking at this welder, Hobart 500559. It's only a 115v welder. But for the price and what welding I do I think it would be fine. Any thoughts? Bobm, looked at the miller 211 you recommeded, certainly looks like a sweet welder. A touch out of my current price range though.

Also looking at picking up a new auto tint. Any recommendations there? Heard something about newer style helmets having better weld viability or something. Man I have a lot to learn!

I am under the same assumption, at least from what I've read.

And that's why Hobarts are a great bang for the buck.

I've been quite happy with my Eastwood MIG 175. I picked up their package deal with a plasma cutter for $899 shipped. 3-year warranty.

Ohh on the welder found out some new info,

miller has factory referbs, make freinds with your local miller dealer.. they can look them up online and order them... about 30% off depending on model...

What climate are you in?

I live in Rapid City, South Dakota, so its typically cold 6 months out of the year (under 50ish) usually we get about a month of subzero temps.

I'll have to go back and give them a talking to. Thanks for the heads up!

After doing some more research i've narrowed it down to two different ones, still waiting for some money to show up to purchase though. Looking at the best option (thanks bobm...lol) Miller 211 , and the Hobart 210MVP. Basically both are the same welder, but the miller has autoset. about a $300 difference in the two.

Sweet pig! I remember seeing it for sale years back. Nice work tackling all the rust. Can't wait to see it on the road again. I thought the pig might have sold out of state until I saw your build thread here last fall!

I'm in Rapid as well. The Dakota Territory Cruisers are having the annual dinner and club run on the 21st this month, it would be cool to have another cruiser around to offset all the dang mini trucks!

Pm me your email and I'll forward the info. If your interested.
