Heads up on the Vintage Air- it will not like the vacuum 4x4 lever and tab, plus the cowl vent tab. Depending on which kit- it hates the EPS too.

Anybody out there running an FJ40 with the vacuum 4x4 lever on the dash and the cowl vent tab And running Vintage Air? If so, which unit did you find fit in there correctly?

Also is anybody out there running with the vacuum 4x4 lever and cowl tab and EPS with a Vintage Air setup?

Gen IV Surefit won’t interfere with the EPS like the Gen V will but both will take up the space that cowl vent tab and 4x4 selector live in.

Another option might be to use the Hurricane stuff- Hurricane Products - https://www.oldairproducts.com/brand/hurricane?filtercache=57227780-0d13-4ca8-a199-5a7ba548c3c1

Both companies sell a cheap mock up evaporator to help packaging. And you can get different fittings to help route around issues.

On our 72 build, the evaporator housing was notched and glassed to fit around the dash tabs.

Remember that we don’t really use the glove box and that some of the companies sell and under seat evaporator or like some others have done robbed the rear unit from a minivan out of the pick a part.

Thank you, Jesse.

Keep at it, Don. Builds have their ups and downs but no better feeling than the first fire up and drive. And remember, perfect is the enemy of good.

Thanks Jesse. My luck on this project so far has reminded me of the old saying "If it were raining soup, all I'd be able to find would be a fork."

I thought about mounting the Trunk Monkey button in the glove box, but decided that would be too far to reach comfortably from the driver's seat. ;)

More Progress! New
The rear wheel wells on both sides have been moved.

A PO had replaced a section of the driver's floor with thin flimsy metal and that has been cut out and replaced with floor from a donor.

Someone had robbed the toolbox so I sourced one from a vendor here on Mud and that has been installed.

Rear tub cap is done.

Everything has been removed from the firewall.

Epoxy sealer is next. I'll post some pics this weekend.

More Progress - Finally Some Color! New
On the underside the seams have been sealed, then epoxy primer, then some color!
