picked up a 75 & a 74. The 75 is a cancer free SW truck built in December of 75. It has surface rust all over the skin. Needs new quarters and fenders (up to 1/2" Bondo). PO sold the axels and steering box. It has power breaks, had front disk (according to PO) and has the short rear doors. No top at this point and a non aisen carb. Question is what year range top do I need to look for and does it make sense this month build would have had disk brakes? Also, the 74 is complete but pretty rusty. May use it as a parts car or try to source the correct parts for the 75 and eventually build the 74 as well. Thanks for your input. Jim

Welcome to this side of the forum.
On a good note... The Bezel is correct...
Work from there back and it shouldn't take to long.

Windshield and barn doors are off a earlier model. 12/75 would be a 76 model that had disc brake axle on front. Would of had ambulance doors and wipers on the bottom of the windshield.

75 was the year between the new and old style top and doors. December makes yours newer, so tops from mid 75 to 83 should be what you're looking for. Doors finished out inside nicer, ambulance doors, and a few other little changes. good luck!

That white one looks earlier though, as mentioned already.

I'm pretty sure this is a 75 model. The vin is 4300 which shows to be the last month produced in 75. I may have it wrong, but that's what I found in a 40 stat sheet. My understanding (limited at best) is late 75's were unusual as there were some changes made going into 76 production.

I figured I need side doors with panels etc. (later). Thanks.

Model years almost always start before the calendar year. Believe 9./75 was the start of the 76 model year. Mine is a 10/75 and is a 76 model with disc brakes. The 75 model did not have disc brakes.

View attachment 1385559 if I'm reading this chart from CCOT correctly, would vin #4300 fall under a 75 model? Thanks.

That is a production date chart different then model year. The 2017 models have been available for a long time not just since January. If you went off production date you would be lucky to find a 2017 vehicle made in Japan in January.

Then a 76 it is :). I may still working on the title details and the PO never outbreaks it in his name. SO I have to believe the rear doors were Addessi at some time.

this part confuses me

Your color code is 012 that chart shows T12. It is also not a actual Toyota chart. Been a lot of confusion on colors and years especially beige colors.

One thing that is nice Toyota made it convenient to switch your fender VIN plaque over to another fender only using two sheet metal screws. Think the colors are confusing my 76 shows the transmission as M42 not H42.:hmm:

Here's another few questions. Does anyone know how to tell if a 40 is a factory soft top? Another buddy (@fl4031003 ) and I were looking at it and there are no signs of a hard top being on it. Has been repainted at some point so the top could have been lost at that time. There are antique snaps all around the edge and two aluminum brackets mounted behind the jump seats. Was wondering is this could be why the short doors are on the rear. Lastly, is it possible Toyota put an early windshield frame on it since it's a December 75 build date? Thanks for your input. Jim
