Got to go with JIS! Not original otherwise. Call me and I can tell you where to get the goods and have them all plated and looking good. You can see it all in my build thread. Though I have a ton of bolts it seems like I am always missing the one da$&@m bolt I need. Right now it is motor mount bolts and I can't find my rear tailgate hinges :(.

I hear you guys, please don't hold it against me that we didn't use JIS :o it just seemed all the JIS stuff I could find had the flanged head on it and I wasn't going to use those  Plus like I said the only real difference between the standard metric and JIS is the 12 is now a 13 and I don't think too many cruiser heads can tell the difference :meh:

I can tell a difference when I have to throw the 12mm back into the toolbox to grab the @#$%^&* 13mm!!! :bang:

Your call though...:wrench:

after you get used to working on non JIS stuff it is all the same.. you just grab a 13 instead of a 12 and you dont even think about it. :D

ask me how I know! :hillbilly:

If I could get a refund on the $500 we spent on all new bolts and nuts I'd switch over to JIS but at this point it ain't happening. Lesson learned though, I've saved Marks JIS info. for the next time around:o

It would be one thing if EVERY SINGLE BOLT was non-JIS. On a Cruiser like mine, however, there is lots of JIS left. So yeah, I wouldn't have a problem if you never expected to see a 12mm head for anything, and 13mm was all you had, but the mixing stuff drive me crazy!

I'd heard that Au-Ve-Co can provide some hardware that's pretty close to OE, so that's definitely something to pursue on the next project. Now if they had captured washers as part of that...:grinpimp:

I agree - it's the mixing that makes you crazy. When I have 4 bolts to remove X part, and three are JIS and one is a non-JIS head it makes me angry. But then I sip my beer and all is better.

But when I removed the running boards from my 80 and all the bolts were 13mm (presumably because they were installed on this side of the ocean) it didn't bother me - consistency is good. The yellow plating is sexy though - I have a nice collection of JIS nuts and bolts in my garage but they are all silver/nickel :(

Now hurry up and get finished so I can buy this rig from you - as long as you don't paint it Clemson orange.

Exactly, that is what drives me crazy. Two dif sized wrenches on the same job. That is why I searched so hard for the JIS stuff.

I accept!! What is your preference? I love a little micro brewery out in your neck of the world, Oskar Blues in Lyons Colorado....... love their Gordons. In fact I will be enjoying a few of those at the tailgate on Saturday. If you can catch a flight in I'll have you a front row seat for the game and a place to stay

Hope your QB and WRs do some quick healing, I don't want there to be any excuses.... I want FSU's best shot:grinpimp:

here are couple of pics of my '62 FJ40; finially finished the resto on the hard top and doors and worked out all the kinks, now she is on evilbay:o but she is being sacraficed for a good cause, as I will be adding my own 45 to the stable as soon as this sells

Not really up sizing, I have my eye on an FJ45LWB.... want something I can use for run's to Lowe's, haul my bikes, canoes, etc. Plus I have another 1962 FJ40 waiting in the barn for a resto. and we all know the fun part is bringing these old girls back to life
