Glad to hear that the thermostat gave you a drop in temps Lou. I think that we have gotten really spoiled with the new cars not having to change, distro caps, rotors, wires, plugs and thermostats, as preventative maintenance but these tractor motors need it every 30,000-40,000 miles.

Oh and you need to put some more miles on this thing it is too cool!

Nice Rig!!! Im going through the exact same process with mine, Lift, leather, carpet, etc... Nice Work!

Thanks ... The transformation is rewarding and the list is never ending .... more costly projects for 2012......Tire carrier and ladder.. Winch.. Sliders and underbelly protection and powder coat wheels ..315 Duratrac's and re-gear..
Looking forward to seeing your progress

Lou

Here's a picture of the Ultra Gauge showing the new engine temp at 186.8 and my 80 wishing it would dump a couple of feet instead of the dusting we just got

Lou

Dunb question. Will an Ultra Gauge work in a 94?

Hey Lou, so you have decided on doing the re-gear instead of the supercharger? Does Lance still have his white 80? I think it had 4.88's maybe you could take t for a drive to see what you think.

I think that's the way to go until I need an engine. The truck runs great and could last another 100k.. I rather finish the last few mods that I think are necessary and spend the big bucks when I have to. I think Lance sold the white 80 but i enjoy driving my truck the way it is so re-gearing would be a big improvement.

I want to buy 315's too, but Im a bit worried about the stock gears with that size... i drove one the other day and felt I'd want more power (more gear)

hey Lou, i'm in fairfax, with 5.27 gears on 37" tires if you want to meet and test drive a re-geared truck.

-Fernando

Fernando.. I may take you up on that when I get closer to pulling the trigger on new tires and I'll be selling the BFG 295 75 16's that have 2K miles on them

Thanks for the offer

Lou

When I installed my front speakers they came with front stage tweeters which were suppose to mount with double sided tape to the upper corners of the windshield ....I ended up mounting mine on the the A pillar.... Well the tape didn't stick well to the vinyl so I was going to buy the gauge pillar pods that are available on the mud but decided to make my own ..So this morning I headed to Home Depot in search of something that would work and came home with a half of dozen different PVC elbow joints and came up with this as a start...
I have not decided if I'm just going to cover the pod with vinyl .....recover the a pillar and just put a couple of screws through the back side of the pillar to secure it or if I should break out the fiberglass and mold it on..
I'll play around over the next few days and figure it out.. Enjoy the teaser pic's....

This evening I finally installed my ARB Drawer System following CycloSteve's detailed install instructions......, Bolted the two together, moved the mounting hat braces based on the instructions. Drilled 10mm hole through the inside tie down hook bolt hole and ended up using 21mm of stackers instead of 15mm to level the frame , Its pretty much done except for the side fit kit which I'll finish tomorrow.
The picture that show's the hats braces... The left side is how they are installed at the factory so the left side is correct for the 80 install.

Looks good!
BTW, IPOR never got back to me on the group buy request... Too bad.

I sent Sverige a PM regarding this... It is to bad they didn't do a group buy..

Today I buttoned up the ARB drawers... Got the fit kit installed and trimmed the side where the sub is ....still need to trim the front section. I also got to work on the A-pillar tweeter pods...epoxied the PVC to the A-pillar cover and started laying down the bondo... Sanding and shaping to come along with some textured white paint and they should look good.

Thanks Beno... they are almost ready.....
It rained all day today so I spent the day fixing a few nick picking things on the cruiser....When I was reinstalling my headliner one of the rivnuts for the grab handle popped off inside the upper support and rattles around when I'm driving... and I need the grab handle installed.... We have a Sears Hardware store about a mile away ....for those who don't know .. It's like an old school hardware store.
I don't own a Rivnut Gun and they don't sell them ...... so for a really good temporary fix I use a little expanding foam to lock that loose rivnut in place and to secure the grab handle I use a plastic License plate anchor ..... Hammered it in and used a oversize screw which expanded the anchor and it's good... I pulled the handle using my body weight and it didn't budge.. I also used a smaller size to fix both my visor clips which kept pulling out....
When I mounted the larger door pods, I drove screws through the pods into the door and use these plastic caps which kept falling off so I found these cool caps at Sears that I used to fix the problem.....
I also painted the A-Pillar tweeter pods and used black texture paint on this vent that I plan on installing in the ARB Drawer fit kit to vent for an inverter and the sub.

Got the final coat of textured paint on the A-pillar tweeter pods and got the tweeters installed in the pods and ready to go back in the 80 tomorrow. I also painted the Disco cup holders and the new fuse panel cover with Rust-Oleum Textured # 7226 Bronze which is almost a perfect match for the factory trim. I also cut the ARB fit kit for clearance around the sub
