Hey Lou, the truck is looking great. Looks like you are a fiberglass expert now. What internal volume does your sub enclosure have now?

I remember when we spoke on the phone you mentioned that the sub you were using required very little volume.

I have the plug to make an enclosure that is about a cubit foot. Let me know if you want to borrow it to make the back half of the enclosure out of fiberglass. You could modify the tub after it is formed to what ever volume you need if it is less than 1 ft^3.

This is the plug:

This is the tub it will produce:

hey JM. i was eyeing this spot for a sub... what's the depth this mold produces? i have some A/D/S 12" rs2 subs sitting around, one could be used here...

thanks.

Car Trendz! They rock. I had them tear out my old remote start, alarm, keyless entry unit that was old old old and replace with a keyless entry and remote start unit. They did a fantastic job. They are not cheap though but I got what I paid for.

Thats the unit I was looking at...I'm still hoping the dealer can get mine working with new remotes..otherwise I'll head back to Car Trendz. The units they had started in the upper $500 range and went up to $1000 not including the install..so yes they are not cheap...but I'm into quality work so that will be a future project...
Next up...ARB Drawer System from IPOR

So I spoke to Cam at IPOR regarding the Outback Drawer System by ARB...he indicated that he had a set for the 80 with the fit kit for the sides....we discussed pricing....and struck a deal... I was going to pick them up this Wed....but today was a crapy rainy cold day and I couldn't work outside on the Cruiser so I texted Lance who owns IPOR and he responded that he was at the shop.....39 miles later and about 5 minutes to unpack them and place in my truck.....
These are so sweet.... not much to the install (which I'll complete this week)bolt to the floor install side braces and your done. My only complaint is they don't come in brown.... I my have to talk to my local upholstery shop about changing the carpet on the drawers.

I know they... IPOR are interested in moving these so I spoke to Cam about a possible group buy for the 80 and the 100 series.... I'm assuming he could save money if he shipped in half a dozen at a time from the West Coast.... I'm sure if there's enough interest he'll try and work something out... So stay tune for those who have an interest.

Depending on the interest and price points i would be interested in hearing about a group buy.

It's coming very soon... Cam thinks it's a great idea and once the details are set. I'll post a link here to the group buy in the vendor section..these are so well built. The ARB drawers come with either a fixed top or the built in slide top for a fridge... Mine are fixed and I'm good with that because when I do get a fridge I'll get the drop down fridge slide but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the $925.. price from Tembo Tusk and Slee is selling the Platinum drop down for $695.....it's the price we pay for fun.

This eve I installed the Depo HID Projector Head Lights along with the clear corner lights and the turn signals. I can't say enough about the finished product that Jason, aka Chef J sent me.... He promised plug and play and that's what I received....the only thing I had figure out is mounting the ballasts.. I used heavy duty Velcro and zip ties.. After that plugged in .... Holy #hit these lights are so nice.... They are worth every penny and then some. The ability to see well at night is priceless and the high beams are just stupid bright.

The black paint on my truck was looking pretty rough from years of sitting outside... Some of you know I work at a Lexus dealership and we also have our own body shop with some pretty talented guys.. I left my truck with them for the day.... They removed about ten dings and small dents...and wet sanded and buffed the truck and it looks great...I was thinking about having it painted but the way it looks now I can put that off for awhile.

that paint looks new! they did a fantastic job. How much would this cost at a decent body shop?

I am curious if just a wet sanding and a buff would have similar results on my white 97 but I wonder if you must have enough clearcoat left to wet-sand. What was your clearcoat like before? Was it dull on the very outer surface but not the paint layer underneath?

If you have White paint your way ahead of the game... You could probably get by with a clay bar cleaning of the paint and compound buffing...
My paint was not dull... It had scratches and dings. Leaf stains, bird poop stains.... you name it,, black paint will show it..
It is by no means like new but it's a huge improvement ....I wish it was white..your lucky!!

Since installing the Depo HID projectors the IPF driving lights that are mounted on the ARB are obsolete...my high beams are brighter then these puppy's.... I believe there's a HID conversion kit available for the IPF's but I did not spend a great deal of time looking for it after reading Treeroot's thread and eyeballing that badass Rigid Industries E-Series light bar... and as he stated "I just had to have it".... Not the 50 inch version . I pcked up the 20 inch E-Series, rated at 7900 Lumens that will mount on the ARB below the top bar.. I also pickup a pair of 4 inch HID driving lights that supposedly produces 3200 Lumens per light to replace the IPF's They are the cheap lights from China.... The online retailer that sold them to me runs them on his race buggy and loves them... You really can't beat the price $99 bucks each...I'm hoping to get them on this weekend.

Yes it's www.alternativeoffroad.com
Owners name is James ...great guy.. He shipped out the 4 inch same day and had the Rigid dropped shipped to me. Most of his lights are discounted off retail... Not a huge discount but better then most and shipping was free.. The phone number is his cell.. If he doesn't respond right away, send him a email .. He's got jury duty this week... I don't know him but had a question today and called him and he responded with a email that he was in jury duty
He also sells the other HID lights from China with the red ring on the front that others here have purchased ... The 4 inch lights produced the same Lumens as the 7 so I decided smaller was better

Keep me posted, I'm a 100 series in the DC area and would be interested in a group buy on the ARB drawers.

Great stuff so far! Keep 'em coming. Regarding post #154, could you elaborate on all the stuff that Jason told you to purchase for the HID conversion? Also, who on ebay did you go through for your Depos? Thanks a lot.

I'd have to look that up in my Ebay account... I always buy from vendors that have a long history with eBay and have great feed back..
Jason told me where and which projectors to order..
Sent me a eBay link for the blubs and the link for the wiring harness
I'm not going to tell you not to attempt this yourself because I was thinking about doing it myself... So glad I didn't
Jason's got this thing down to a science and is extremely OCD.. He did his own lights twice... There's another guy in VA name Lewis and he did his lights. All I had to do was mount them and plug them in...found a nice wall and a two min adjustment ... and I've got some bad ass lights
In traffic they are so much whiter then any factory HID that I'm constantly asked about them and no one has flashed me.. thinking I had my high beams on.... You will never regret spending the money for the conversion.. Either way.... If you do them yourself or if you have Jason do them...
Night driving in the 80 is a pleasure....i can see way down the road and the quad high beams are sick...

Cheers

Lou

Dude your paint finish looks amazing now. Can I bring my beat ass '96 up for some loving touch up? Does your shop replace headliners and do that type of cosmetic work regularly?
