Just picked up this rig. I am baselining it now. but would like some input on upgrades and the order that you guys would put them. (importance).

Thanks, Brian

Looking good. Before upgrading comb through it and make sure the maintenance is dialed in. Pretend you are stuck in the middle of the desert with a breakdown and are saying to yourself, Man I wish I looked at or replaced......

Oh and get the wheels painted asap.

Off the top of my head, all fluids, PHH, exercise the lockers, fusible links (get a spare for glove box or use current as spare), check sunroof drip lines if in a rainy climate...... and the list goes on. Enjoy!

Humdinger Cherry Red! I'll second the above. You look to have plenty of adventure-ready mods. Focus on baselining which I understand you are already doing. Head gasket job done already? Axles serviced? PHH? All depends on how the rig has been treated over the years and what you have evidence of being done already.

I personally believe baselining includes getting an oil analysis done.

wheels are painted, looks like a rustoleum job! lol.. going to go back to original

recommendations on where to get parts?
If you call/email Blackstone Laboratories they'll send you a couple sample containers and instructions. You send in an oil sample and a little money and they do the rest.

That looks like a truck that the PO was a 'Mud member. If you know their handle, you can possibly track the build.

Nice truck, 93-94 are the best! I am just north in ATX and have used and new parts.

If I’m not mistaken this 93 has the 3FE.... doesn’t it? If so, no need to sweat the head gasket.... “just piss in the oil reservoir, and add a beer to the fuel tank, and that thing will run forever”! ..... or something like that! Enjoy!

Go wheel it! The priorities will become self evident.

/this\ - the more you will become one with your truck, you will be able hear it whispering to you . . .

too bad there isn't much public land in Texas to wheel on :bang:

93 to 97 = 1FZFE

I stand corrected! Thank you..... my brain is “frozen” in this cold weather. Lol:flipoff2:

I know tons of folks feel that you have to do tons of work when you get a new truck. I don't necessarily agree. If the last owner took good care of the tuck, then why? Change the oil if you have no record of the last change. Then go get it dirty and enjoy it.

***UPDATE****

Started the baseline on the new rig...

New brakes rotors, pads, calipers and lines
New bushings
New power steering hoses
New spark plugs/wires
Compression test (all cylinders 155-160)
Transmission service
5x Cooper STT PRO 33x12.50x16
Rear Diff inspect drain/fill/hoses
Transfer case drain and fill
Lube steering linkage/ball joints and drive shafts
Knuckle rebuild

What am I missing?

Thanks, Brian
