I looked at fitting a spacer above the bump stop but there didnt seem to be enough thread left

I thought that too, but I don't suppose they need so much thread, as they aren't really holding any weight. and if they are done up tight, with the head of a spacer hard against the mount, then all the force from hitting the bumpstop will be transfered through the chassis, not the actual bolt thread.

Windows are now tinted, and inside the cab feels nice and cool and comfortable now

I ordered 15% for the front to windows, and the rest are 5% so it is all legal. 5% is probably a bit dark, but for what I am using the car for, it won't be any problem, I'm not doing any serious off roading at night time, and most of my recreational use will involve long trips on the road.

That looks really nice. Now all you need to do is do your window frames in matte black.

It is technically darker than Legal yes. I ordered the tint myself, and got a friend of mine (who has been doing the tinting for Toyota and Lexus here in rocky for nearly 10 years) to fit it for me as a cash job. Obviously because she can do a much better job than me haha.

She said that I would get away with it because the front two are lighter, allowing me to see down either side of the car clearly, and that is what makes it legal. And I can always try the factory fitted privacy glass option, as an excuse.

Yeah I was thinking that! I'm pretty sure that the sahara's over here are gloss black though. Which might blend in better anyway with the glass, and considering nothing else on the car is matte.

Haha, a black-out pact. I'll let you know how I go, I might try and do it this week if I get the time. Mods don't come much cheaper and easier. And pointless too haha, other than for looks haha

i'd be interested in your opinion about the hydraulic bumpstops i saw on 4WD TV tonight...well yesterday now, and if they could be used for IFS 100 series.

How do they work for us ? (normal 4wd 100 series/Lexii) Not something we need to look at?

It's probably something i won't be interested in, but for the ih8mud people, and lcool.org people given there is a crossover with members in some respect.

Normally, I would say they are good with lots of travel.

A offroad racer that uses them to absorb impact, and stop kick off, is normally catching up to 30+ inches of wheel travel with a 4"travel hyd bump stop.

On a road going car, you need to space them to suit, but only if your left with enough travel for them to work.

If they contact, or are close at ride height, they arent designed to be part of the travel except when needed, so they can boil the oil in them quickly, if not set up correctly.

Better to spend the money on good shocks on a road car IMHO, than going hydro's.

We are trialling some Timbrens rubber bump stops we have on order soon, as a road going option, and cheaper, thatn going to hydro bumps.

Front sway bar extensions are done!



Now was a good time to get this job done, as you can see the link pins were heavily corroded, close to the point of breaking.



To make the extensions, I cut the ends off the links pins, where the bushes actually sit. Then cut out the shanks of a couple of high tensile bolts to use as my new link pin.



Then, with the help of Dean, the machinist that I work with, made a recess in the end of the bolts to fit over the stub I left of the existing link pin. At the same time, we machined down the bolt from the opposite end and put a thread on it for the nuts to go on.



Then we welded the new pin onto the old pin end, and welded the spacer seen in the picture back up the top of the post, an inch further up from the standard mounting surface.



After a tidy up, some paint, and new bushes, I had the finished product. 1" extended front sway bar links.

I'm pretty sure that 1" extension is all that is needed to clear everything. It will be interesting to feel the difference ice the sway bar is fitted again. I've been driving round for nearly two months now without it haha.

First of all, haha, your grammar is terrible! But I'm pretty sure you're asking how the trail Grapplers are in comparison the the KM2's I had. Well I haven't even put 5,000km's on them yet, but so far, they have impressed me. They are noisier than the KM'2, as I think I've mentioned before, but that's only because they are softer. I haven't had a chance to get offroad much yet. But that will be coming up soon, when I have the king shocks fitted.

Small update, Timbrens are on their way! For the front only at this stage. The dollar was good and I couldn't resist haha.

I got the front shocks fitted yesterday, the bracket for mounting the reservoir made it all too easy. Looks tidy too.
















Now I need to work out where to mount the reservoirs on the rears.

Any suggestions??? Throw up any photos of how you've mounted yours?
