Thanks Darren, I picked it up on Thursday last week, and got it fitted a couple of days ago! Here are some pics of the prep and install.

I got a batch of paint made up into rattle cans to match the colour of the front barwork. So I also painted the rear quarters of the car, behind where the bar would sit with the left over paint.

The instructions were very clear and easy to read. And I'm very impressed with the quality of work from Slee, so a big thanks to the team at Slee from the other side of the world in oz!

looks good Nate!!
I recommend you get some headers/extractors and a decent exhaust instead of the cat-back exhaust you mentioned. Once you see how restrictive the factory cats (inlet/outlet) and exhaust manifolds are you'll understand what i mean.

Mines here. Whilst not stainless, it's the best mod i've done so far although once i do the suspension i'm sure that will be!

You can hear mine at the bottom of page 4 of the ih8mud video sticky and there's a louder one on page 5.

Thanks Moo, Good job with the pictures! I'm in the process of saving up for a rifle, but I think I'll put it on the back burner now, haha. Did you get new o2 sensors at the same time as the exhaust?

No they just had to extend the existing ones to fit. No issues at all. ....... just a big grin everytime I drive it!!

I'm back! After not having a properly functioning computer for nearly two months, my new one has arrived and I've set it up. I also got a movie making program that I'm looking forward to learning how to use, and hopefully make some cool videos featuring the 100!

Here is the link for the video comparing the two valve bodies that I said I was going to do up. It's very basic but you'll get the idea.

Valve Body Acceleration Test - YouTube

I also have a roof basket in the garage to fit, and a part time 4x4 kit on the way. So I'll post up those mods as I do them!

buy a Mac Nate...it just works.

but i can help you with Linux if you don't want to use Windows too.

I switched to a Mac Mini a couple of years ago...been pleasantly surprised! And it's my main computer now.
I still have a multi-boot PC though - it runs XP/BeOS/Solaris/Linux
I was on Ubuntu Linux, but switched to Mint, which is Ubuntu based, but doesn't use the buggy Unity interface.
beers
peter

ps got a quote on 18x9 Pro Comp rims, and some 295x70x18 Nitto trail Grapplers.... all good quotes actaully. We'll see!

Nice built, how you feel the off road ride after the rear bumper was installed?
thanks

I just bought this computer, haha, I did look at Macs, but the price put me off. The editing program I got is Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD, It seems a bit tricky by I'll work it out eventually. As for all this Ubuntu/Linux/Mint jargon..

Thanks, the ride is much smoother now with the rear bar fitted. The extra weight over the back end now suits the way the Kings are valved. They still control the car well in the corners, and absorb the bigger bumps. The fronts I think are still a little stiff, but nothing bad enough to warrant re-valving them in the near future.

holy crap those valve bodies made a huge difference. do they make those for the A343 or whatever the 4sp is

I believe that Rodney at Wholesale Auto's does a fair amount of trading with you guys over in the U.S. So I'd say he has something for them. You can contact him via email on his site.

It's been raining a fair bit over the last few days, so I decided to round up a few mates to go for a good ol' fashioned mud bash. It was a good opportunity to test out the mud grapplers, and they didn't disappoint! The trusty 100 lead the pack and I only got stuck once while pulling the red GQ Patrol out (for the 3rd time, after dinting his rim and rolling the tyre off) but I was able to winch myself out.

Speaking of the winch, the 9.5XP was incredible! With the 100 doing 8 recoveries over the course of the afternoon, and 6 of them with the winch, it didn't miss a beat.

Here are a couple of pics

Looks like those Nissan's need a lot of help;)

Fitted a snorkel this afternoon. I got it from a company call Powerful 4X4. Its basically the same design as the Airtec snorkel that TJM sell, but instead of $475, it was just under $200.

I did run into a problem whilst fitting it though, and that was that the plastic elbow that the snorkel connects to inside the guard didn't fit up inside the guard properly. I had to take all the bolts out of the rear half of the guard and pull it out a bit to squeeze in the plastic elbow. Then put a bit of force on the guard to bolt it back on. This makes me think that the plastic elbow will only last so long until it starts to rub through on the inner guard. So on Monday I'll be ringing powerful 4X4 to see what they have to say about it.

As with most of my posts, I like to add a little picture or two, haha. So here ya go!

I also picked up a Scangauge II a couple of days ago which has been fun to play around with. Also a little disturbing to know exactly how thirsty the old girl is! :o But I've still got to calibrate it and get all the settings right. It's probably one of my favorite mods (more of an addition than a mod) so far, and it'll give me something to occupy myself with on long trips :D

One interesting thing I noted with the gauge is that the intake air temp is on average 10 degrees C cooler with the snorkel fitted compared to before, so that has to be a good thing!

That snorkel looks pretty nice. Are your power antennas on the US DS of the vehicle?

It is somewhat depressing to watch the instant MPG on the scanguage, haha. It also takes it a couple of tank fills to calibrate to the vehicle. I can't tell you how many threads i have seen of folks reporting 25-30mpg with a FJ Cruiser with their scangauge on their first few tanks and thinking it was accurate.

Nate,

i was hoping to post something before you got your snorkel...
but i've been offline...anyway....
you need to read the "sticky" at LCOOL
LCOOL.org :: Log in

i've removed my turbine that isn't a turbine (coz it's fixed) and well i assume you have already installed your snorkel...havent read your mud thread yet (yes i';ll scroll up...i got an email as i subscirbe to your build up thred) , but there's been amazing things discovered in that lcool link by many people that have had snorkels installed!!

It's a good read, and a good excuse to register over at LCOOL (no i am just a forum member) for tips like that.
And it's not so friendly tho...beware (they need you to say what sort of LC you have etc in your signature ....)
as a computer person thats all easy peezy for me, but some of the people that ask questions have never used a computer so asking them for a "sig"nature saying what their LC/LX is...may as well speak Mandarin to them...!!.

but anyway, once you get over that it's a wealth of info
peter

EDIT: i was running my K&N filter today coz i knew i had a big highway run. Fuel eco was 12 -13 per 100 k...flat highway tho. at 100km/h...when i got to 110 freeway 13.5 - 14.3....according to the scanguage II...but yeah...so a tip for you on ih8mud Nate is that our LCs/Lexii run the cyclonic air filter system.....i managed to hook one up for hoser (Les)... vs the USA air intake system....so the K&N air filter for us, is not the same as the USA spec LC/Lexus. Although, it's the same filter if you buy the full K&N cold air intake system. I carry the OEM filter in the back of my LC if i am using the K&N and vice versa i have the K&N in the back too. To save you searching...no oil has ever hit my MAF sensor like that has been reported by some of the USA guys. I did, though, have to clean it once...after i checked all of the servicing issues i'd had with Toyota ...as in all of the crap servicing issues. Let's leave that there...you can PM me now as i was able to buy a silver star here!! yay!
