I bought these 40s after seeing this classified ad here.............

After letting them hang out for a few months, it was final time to get to work. First thing was the knock the ugly off the 68 FST and inventory everything with the 74.

Here's the pair as bought.

I started to rebuild the 74 first. It was pretty clean with only some minor issues. I picked up a early 70s F engine and a 3 speed and tcase. It's an Oct 73 build date, so no 4 speed yet. I have found a few weird transition type things so far. This is my newest 40 I have rebuilt......lol.

New brake lines and hoses through out. Wheel cylinders and wheel bearing will be dealt with later. A bunch of new engine goodies. The stock exhaust manifold was cracked so I did some trading and got the header.

Thanks. It's far from perfect though. I started on the 74 at the end of April this year. I am hoping to have it done in time for a car show in Prescott in August.

Been buying up alot of needed parts off CraigsList. I got a nice cluster (I cleaned and repainted it) and a set of the factory buckets with the 3 point seat belts. I will reupholster the seats sometime soon. I also bought a new oem fuel tank as the one I had was shot.

Now I am all caught up and new posts will reflect the daily progress. I put some freebie wheels and my old Yokohamas off my LX470 on the 68 to keep it rolling. I have been accumulating parts for this truck as well.

More to come later today..........

Thanks for the kind words. I have done about 6 now over the last 15 or so years. I like to put them back on the road, drive for awhile, then sell and move on to the next one.

I was supposed to have gone wheeling today and be camping at 7100 ft where it's nice and cool, but they closed pretty much all the forests due to wildfires. Hopefully, things will go positive and we get some rain before the whole state burns down.

Got a few items cleaned up. Now figuring out the routing and what I need for new hoses and hardline for the fuel system.
