That looks awesome! I really dig the rattle can mentality myself.....my '69 is about to undergo a similar surgery. Didn't start out in the red like yours, man you've done a hell of a turnaround job with that one!

Looks really good. Keep the pictures going. I've just started "resto-ing" my 1970; had the wire wheel and rustoleum primer out today as a matter of fact. Keep up the good work!

Looking good,nice job on the painting! Love the new emblems,signals,prk.lights,that was a nice little package there! I am doing alot of the same stuff on my truck.Just finished doing the Hurculiner over the weekend,came out nice.That stuff covers alot of imperfections,it's a good DIY job.I am also a big fan of the rattle can resto! I am using rust-oleum tan color,comes out nice painting a little at a time.I must confess,I used a little bondo on some spots I will end up fixing later(but it looks ok now!)

I have some work to finish up on the interior but I promise to share more pics soon. I'm gonna take a lot of poser shots for sure.
For reference, here's a pic of some of the products I have been using. The rustoleum color is officially called "oregano" but I prefer "orc-hide."
The gloss black is for the bumpers/roll bar, hood hooks, etc. I also used a flat back (not in pic) in the engine bay and underside of the front fenders.

Im planning a rattle can job for mine as well for the reasons stated above regarding trail stripes.
You did an amazing job on the application.
Ive got that POS diamond plate on the rears as well. Took of ONE side so far...Someone actually shoved a PEPSI CAN in the GLOB of bondo to use as backing reinforcement. What do people think!?!?!?!

Looks from the picture of the front of his truck that he's going to have more issues than just cutting off or unbolting his current bumper and buying a new one to replace it. There looks to be gussets and stuff welded on there, and the PO may have even shortened the front frame rails a touch. That might require some work.
I got lucky with my bumper from this:

All I had to get was the OEM gusset plates that the PO had removed when they had an ugly tube bumper put on, and some hardware and it went on great. I also got the OEM license plate bracket and drilled a couple holes in the bumper to make that nice and securely mounted.
You did a great job so far. And there's no shame in rattle can paint if you can do right , and you can. No need in spending a load of money on a paint job , then worry about scratches and chips. Lets face it we all look for the cheapest way , but sometime it's still more then we want to spend . Can't wait to see it done , cuz it will look top dollar.
Great job Enthuiser...pat yourself on the back. The labor and care you've put in is worth a lot more than what you'd throw at a body shop.

Chicago- I sold a tub to someone locally who bought a 40 from the east coast on ebay. Underneath the bright, shiny paint and THIN layer of Bondo was crumpled newspaper! Everywhere! That's so jacked....I'd be buying a plane ticket, renting a gun, and buying a bullet.
I think you'll always look back over your shoulder after you get out of you bad ass cruiser and say, "damn, I'm good"!

Correct! It's gonna be some fun getting it all off - lots of welds. However, I don't think the frame has been cut. I may post a couple of pics tomorrow and maybe you guys can help me confirm. I've been pondering which way to go with the bumper/winch and appreciate the suggestsions. Ron B....I like that one from JToutfitters. Simple and clean and looks like it would work perfectly with my winch.

Super cool build. I've rattle canned about 4 trucks and did one with a roller (roller info- Rickwrench, Alfa GTV, Falcon Squire, Corvair) came out great. I just sold a rattle canned truck for $12K. Zero shame in dancing with the rattler!
Napa auto parts and many other places like tower paint can do custom rattlers to match the paint code on the truck if you ever wanna go that direction.
Truly, rattle jobs look amazing from 10 feet and you can beat the shizznit out of them and have a brand new looking truck a half hour after you're done wheeling.
