And yes all new Daystar Body Mounts. Can't remember where I bought them, but if you need part # I can look it up.

I don't know why they supply the bolts for the 78 and earlier kits but not the 79+.

cool project
i have a question
u have 81 fj40 it means u should have a square bezel ,
and it is not square!

It was round when I bought it, but not anymore.

Not that Ive been a purist in any form on this build, I decided to go back to square bezel.

Thanks!

Any idea what length? And did you get certain washers. I know the factory bolts have those odd wings on them.

I used 7/16 Grade 8 bolts x 3 1/2" (85 mm) with standard washers.

The factory bolt is tapered on end and your correct it has a square flange on the end to keep it from rotating I guess???

Put the timing cover and crank pulley back in tonight. Hope the bolts are tight enough!

My inch lb torque wrench was too fat to fit on bottom bolts with crank pulley on, so i just guessed and tightened by hand.

Fuel pump and oil cooler installed.

I was reading up on Water Pump replacement (I've got a new one to go in) and read where others have suggested splitting the fan shroud.

My fan shroud got powder coated. Should I mess with this, this being the case?

And if so, do most split the fan shroud horizontally or vertically?

Careful with the housing. My shop dropped mine and it broke in two. He couldn't source one so he essentially jb welded it back together. Looking good! Keep up the good work!

ky My thermostat housing was badly pitted as well, I did that exact same thing you were talking about with jb weld. I thought It was crazy but it turned out beautiful. I had it powder coated gloss black...

Where did you buy the Daystar mounts. I need to figure out what to buy for my LV project. All my truck had from the factory was rubber pads and through bolts into the body.

I originally ordered via Cruiser Solutions but gave up after several months of waiting, even though they took my money. I do remember that.

Try this link ---> http://www.daystarweb.com/productdetail.php?productID=501

I also found them on Facebook. When I contacted them via Facebook somebody replied within a day.

Good luck, hope it helps!

Good idea. Here's mine.

I may use All-Metal filler since I have some.
