Todd,

Sent you a PM, thanks!

Build looks great! Have you thought about dropping a axle in that trailer with a 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern? Get matching rims and tires for it so you will have some extra spares?

Keep up the good work, great color!

Hey KY, Are you crazy? 2 40's???? Stop messing with that motor and get this thing moving before the :princess: losses it!!!! I have been following your build for some time now and I am ready to see some more pics. I love the color! Finished by Christmas? That would be sweet! Keep up the good work it keeps me motivated to see you draw near the finish line. Oh and for the record its 3 projects with the trailer :D

This is just downright inspiring. I have a '79 FJ40 that has been rode hard and put away wet, given to me on my 50th birthday, which was a few years back. But it's my daily driver so no frame-off rebuild for me.

This rather lengthy build has given me several ideas and provided a lot of good info on what to do and not do. (I usually learn more from doing the not to do items.)

My RB (Rust Bucket) is going to get a new rear sill, quarters and rocker repairs while I am working away from home for a month. I found a local shop that will work with me a bit at a time.

Thanks for the posts, that is going to be an awsome ride soon!

Just read this thread for the first time. - Amazing work getting this cruiser to the state it's in now from such a sour eBay deal.

You're on the final straight now so I wish you good luck with completion and getting the title sorted Alex.

crowbarforge, the plan for my new body was the shop was going to paint my new one and have it for a quick swap--initial estimates were one week. they've had it for over a month now, but they're doing great work and gave me a free loaner car so I can't complain. The only part of my frame that needed repair was in the back--one bracket that ties the side member to the rear cross member at roughly a 45 degree angle and one of the rear leaf spring hangers. So while your having some body work done, I'd encourage your shop to check out the rear frame sections as well. Good luck!

taro...thanks for the tip. I am taking the FJ40 into the shop next week, will be gone for about three weeks and may have them do some other work there above what is scheduled. I can pay"storage fees" after the work is finished and before I get back home, or have them do more bodywork for the same $$$.

So the New Year is here and I'm back at it with the 40.

Question: I bought some headers for my ride quite sometime ago.

Should I have checked to see if they are true where they mate to the head?

I've heard so many others complain of exhaust leaks etc. It looks as if they might be a little off...

The leaking manifold problem with headers is usually a result of the header flange being thinner than the intake flange. i would measure both with a pair of calipers. If they're in the ballpark, I would run it and use the OEM or Felpro gasket. If not, I would think about having them machined or going with the Remflex gasket.
