More evidence why the LX is quieter than the Land Cruiser

Just checking back @TheForger . . .
No more updates as of late, but thank you for bringing this back up because it reminded me I need to get back on it. It's been pretty hectic this past month so I haven't gotten a lot done other than preventative maintenance after getting back from a long Colorado trip. I will look into this more and possibly purchase the door surround seals late this week or early next week, sorry for the wait!

mini update: I installed the 4 lower door seals, the 2 mid door seals (my 2006 LC had the upper seals on the rear passenger doors and the accompanying holes), and the passenger side fender seal. The driver side was out of stock and not included with my order. Does anyone have any leads on that part (53867-60060)?

My drive to work seemed a little more quiet, I could hear the wind from my crappy windshield a little more. That will be fixed in 2 weeks.

What I also learned is that the lexus door striker covers do not work with the Land Cruiser door strikers. So if anyone has a LX and wants to replace some ratty old (or missing) striker covers I have a set of 4 that I can't use. They were $4.39 each.

@pbreisch ... I might take you up on the door strikers. I believe my LX is missing them. I'll double check and ping back in 30 minutes.

I had trouble sourcing all the parts (I think I had the same issue as you but mine were on backorder). You might be able to call around to a few dealerships but I forget where I had success. A few places I talked to said they weren't making them anymore and there was a national backorder so I suppose it's possible I just got lucky. Best of luck with the hunt, sorry I can't be of more help.

Resurrecting an old thread.

Has anyone ordered and installed these two items:

  • Full WEATHERSTRIP, REAR DOOR, LH, 67872-60080 and RH, 67871-60080 with clips (2), 90467-05162-B0

If so, did they work and were you satisfied? Also, what vehicle and MY did you install them in.? Thanks!

Well worth Lexyfying the LC. I did the door seals noted, dynomatted the rig from front to back including the roof also upgraded the windscreen to a Lexus screen (when I needed to replace because cracked) as it has the sound deadening technology built into the screen. The sound comfort levels (NVH) were much better, especially on longer trips.

Thanks for the feedback @TLEXAS. Good to hear. I've done everything else (and the LC is really quiet) and just thought I'd check if anyone else did both door seal.

I went a step further on my LX and added additional rubber sealing gaskets around the door frames and pillars. It made about a -3db difference over the already "quiet" LX.

Working on a redesign (DIY brackets) shipping cost were out of control

Will the DIY brackets be welded? When I made mine I cut some blocks of wood at the right angle to fit between the two pieces. Clamp the whole thing up for welding. Could also 3D print the fixture tooling to clip onto the sides.... that would be pretty cool :) I know a guy with a 3D printer in his garage if you want some tests parts printed ;)

Im interested and open to look at what you have. Will you be at the CSC meeting tonight?

Will send you a PM of the pictures I have on hand. Hoping to make it tonight, but I have a date with Jessie and the garden, and the 100 needs a new alternator. So if I do come, it'll be with the 80.

Happen to have any photos that show what you did @geanes?

Figured I would add this here, I’ve just ordered most of the seals I need, thanks for the list everyone. In the process of checking out what I needed,

I noticed this... this is driver front door, passenger front has none of these holes. If you notice, the bottom one is capped off. Can someone tell me what this is for and possibly refer a part number for the plugs if that is what is needed? Thanks!

I'd say those holes are evidence of paintless dent removal (PDR). You can find plugs on Amazon.
