Those arms are things of beauty! I found that with this geometry I was able to use my 6in ram. I measured several times the travel of the tie rod as I cycled the steering and sure enough 6 in was just right. Usually you'd need an 8in ram for D60 steering.

Glad you've got concrete to work on, gravel is no fun. I like that the downspout will clean off the pad under your truck during the wet season. Should keep the "marking it's territory" to a minimum.

Good call on the steering ram. That will have to come at a later time, but the proximity of the tie rod to the axle housing will be a benefit there.

I'm going to work on this new pad with a tarp, to keep metal dust from staining the concrete. Either way, I'm excited to start on the D60 swap!

I took off work on Friday, so more updates are coming down the pipe.

So I got a little excited and tried to get my Super HX30w in this afternoon. I need to get an adapter for the oil fee, or get a new line, and then reindex the compressor housing so it'll line up with my crossover "boost" tube. Old and (not so) busted, vs new hotness:

Thanks! I hope the turbo spools up nice. I've sure gone through a lot to get it to this point, lol.

8 leaf FJ62 rear springs are going up front with the Dana 60.

Got a little bit done this week. My rear outboard perches are in place as are the spring mounts. I also found the correct TREs and a reamer so that I can ream the FZJ80 pitman arm for the 1 ton TRE. I built the tie rod and was very relieved when we found that it does not interfere with the oil pan.

My buddy Mike spent a few days at the house and got some work done on Burt, his SOA FJ62.

Got the front outboard perches placed, but not tacked. I'd like some advice on positioning. Due to the brackets having a sharp 90* inside corner, but the frame having a a gradual, maybe 1/4" radius 90" bend, there is space beteeen the brackets and frame in the inside corner. I think this will be fine, but wanted the opinion of the collective MUD brain before gluing the metal together. I'll let the pics say the rest:

As a side note, be careful to ream your pitman arm with the drill square to the arm, or this will happen.

If that. The gap between the majority of the bracket and the face of the frame is close to zero. The gap between the bottom of the bracket and the bottom of the frame is zero. I'm most concerned with the corner, which is at most 1/4" gap.
