Hope you have strong axles! I was breaking Chromoly stuff on 37's. Had to step up to 300M RCV's and have not looked back. I am running 40" stickies now.

Welcome to the Big Boys CLub!

Yukon chromos up front, stock 14b in the back. I don't hit things as fast as you do in your racetruck so I feel like i'll be alright, but we will see!!

@matzell or others, can you chime in on how bad these tires wear on the street? I want to have these on the truck year-round, single set of tires, but I want to be able to do a 200mi round trip (100mi per day) at rural road speeds, say 55mph and below. Am I going to fry these tires super quick or will it be ok?

I put maybe two thousand miles a year on moonshine these days. If these tires last me 3-4 years I'd be stoked.

I have Maxxis Creepy's in a bias ply and they chunk when driven on street. For example, I run around town in the 40 occasionally and a couple times a year I run from Tahoma to Loon up in Tahoe which is 100+ miles. I have had the Maxxis for a decade or more and there is noticeable chunks missing. That said, the first years there was way less big pieces coming off, not sure when they started doing it, hasnt effected perf and they have alot of rubber so losing a few knobs , meh, I think they will last you your 4 year target, may lose some chunks but its no biggie.

Thanks for the input. The creepy crawlers aren't a competition tire AFAIK. The Swamper SX stickies, BFG Reds, Trep Comps (like I have) are all in that league. The creepy crawlers (from what I've read) are more akin to a bfg blue, or a regular trepador.

I would not drive them far on the street. I can notice wear every time out on the trails. They have a DOT stamp but are soft. You could measure them, take one trip and see how they do. Not sure I would want to put a few thousand miles a year on them.

I was thinking that they'd wear about as fast as race car r-comps but that's not the case. Not to mention maxxis apparently doesn't want the tires to be below freezing ever.

Oh well. Next spring is gonna be good I guess.

I have one Maxxis Creepy Crawler yellow label tire as my spare that I have been running while I wait for my 5th wheel to arrive. I have almost 600 miles on it and I have 20/32 of tread in the center. These tires are hard to measure depth as the base layer is not flat but it measures 28/32 where the base steps down, and over an inch past that. See pictures.

They came with 27/32 new and if that measurement is from the center of the tires, I have burned 7/32 of tread running on the blacktop. I’m with Matzell on this one. I’d run a different tire for the road.

These are 38 x 13.5 bias ply that get run some on the street ( not alot ) at 15 lbs ( maybe lower a bit ) never more than 3 or 4 hr run and thats only 1 or 2 times a year. They are 10+ years old and I love them.

So, not all MTs have the same compound, but I appreciate all you creepy crawler guys chiming in. I also have a good friend of mine @Fort Knox who runs his creepy crawlers on the street without issue, but the compound is *nowhere near as soft* as these trep comps. Not even the same ballpark. This means the wear would be *completely* different. Hell, Maxxis itself markets the creepy crawler as "mud and snow rated", all season tires, and says right on the product page that the trep comp is so soft they don't even want them to freeze, ever, lol.

vs this:

I'll save them for the warmer months. Thanks everyone for your input.

Mine is not the M8090 that you linked above. From what I can tell the version of my tire is no longer available. It is a sticky comp tire used by a crawler company sponsored by Maxxis in the early 2000s.

Then I apologize. I searched and didn't find a creepy crawler comp, and so assumed it was the same as the one my buddy a few miles up the road has. Thanks for your input.

Yes the Treps will go away FAST on street driving. I do recall the old comp creepy's, I remember when they were unobtanium and the last few sets were being sold on the board, then the comp guys started selling off used ones and then they were gone, you have a survivor.

Ive been running the Micky Thompsons Boss MT Sticky for 2 seasons now. And they are super soft if you remember. I have been driving them more and more on the street. I can tell after a 30 mile drive they are very warm. They start to get hard around the edges. I will send you some pics of them this evening on what they look like. In August I did a weekend trip 164 miles of pavement with a trail in the middle of the those miles. I am going to keep doing that. Having them somewhat balanced and running 35psi really helps on highway.

35 psi, dang, mine are 15 and less sometimes, maybe more air ????
On the street you run less that 15? Trail I run 7-10 but highway that is sketch AF.

Not 7 to 10 maybe as low as 12 due to beadlocks burping. The Bias Ply have a stiff carcas and my 40 loaded don't turn, shift. or stop fast so speeds are not more than brief periods of 55 maybe and it is a few trips a year that require pavement pounding for 1 to 3 hrs.

@peesalot what wheels are you running that they burp at anything less than 12#?
