Well you're way ahead of me again. I just revived my thread from last weekend. After I got mine all back together it ran for 4-5 minutes with great oil pressure showing and seized. I think I'm done for the season.

Did you find you had to double up the header gaskets? Just curious.:hhmm:

No because I used a remflex gasket I bought from iron giant.... same one I put on last time I changed it, turned my old header was just and leaking so got these new headers. The whole deal is a huge pain in the ass so I hope like hell they don't leak

got a long day put in yesterday... maybe not a 12 hour day but def. a long day... got the shop cleaned up and tools put away so I can actually find what I am looking for when I go looking for it. then got the whole interior put back in, stereo is not hooked up again but that is it. got allot of other misc junk done, basically the only thing left is power steering, hook up carb, put on fan and bolt in radiator.

no pics today

1. Just fixing up misc. stuff under, think I just got done putting in new 80/90 oil in gear box and transfer... love my old school pump my dad gave me... think it is older than me... :D

2. Interior is back in

3. Headers and intake on

Ok… here is a problem… the linkage on the carb is hitting the intake… It will work.. but if you push the gas all the way down… the gas pedal will pull the linkage hard enough to make it STICK or "hang up on the intake" this is a big problem in my opinion… remember this is a different intake that the last one I used…

What I did was take carb back off and back out carb studs a few turns so I could shim the linkage with a 2 washers… it is better but still “could stick” my question is can I take off carb again and grind off about 1/16 of an inch off the intake to make the clearance I need… or would you “bend” the linkage up and try to make up the difference there….. or grind off the bottom of the linkage?

Fyi carb spacer is about ¾”

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

I would try and grind down the linkage slightly instead of the intake manifold itself. But you know how well my mechanical skills have been working out lately.

that is what my first thought was too... but I wanted to get a few more opinions also... :D

Clearance both sides to take as little off as possible.

I agree with clearancing both. It is difficult to see how much it hits. If it was alot it would seem it would be easy to move the pivot point down on the cam. It appears that it is the cam end that hits not the bar itself.

you are correct... it is the cam end..... what do you mean by move the pivot point?

Cut the bracket and modify it... :meh:

Just sand on the manifold a little bit and on the end of the link on the carb.

If you take an 1/8" inch off between the two, you will be more than fine.

It looks like you would not even have to remove that much material....

Is this thing running yet?

How is your new friend, Eddie Johnson, Clark?

You two getting some quality time together in the shop? Has he been over for dinner? Do you have those shrubs away from the window yet?
