the goal is thursday evening to drop this in...

Oddly enough I hope to have mine going back together and run it in Thursday too. As long as my head gasket and freeze plugs come in I plan on working in the morning and wrenching till it's done in the afternoon-evening. Then if that goes well Friday night after work i'll bolt the sheetmetal back on and take her for a ride.

got your gaskets last night.. thanks.... did not have a chance to open package, but it looked undamaged...

thanks again for a good deal!!!

Aaron,
Looking at the pics, the cam gear clip is not clearly visible.

Since the cam was just replaced, did somebody definitely install the retaining ring?

Looking good now...

Jim what does it look like?

It was on there when the cam was installed into the engine...

Hey Steve, the top of that #1 piston looks peened/stippled:confused: I thought they had only 116 miles on them. That is not from predetonation is it? Or is it just the pic?

Curious:hhmm:

Pretty sure it is just the piston casting Ed. The tops of these domed pistons are not smooth.

Other than the tops being dark, the pistons were nice, clean aluminum, cylinders were honed and new rings were installed.

Jesus Christ Hugh... how long did that take.... :D :flipoff2:
Like 6 months. I was waiting for a buddy to do it for free. He was a Navy under water welder and now makes parts for a company that makes machines that make hardwood flooring. (The joke was that I was going to have to fill the garage with water for him to do a good job:D ) Anyways, a guy at the local PD just opened a motorcycle shop nearby and recommended a welder. A young kid who is a recently laid off machinist came by the house and took care of it in about 2 hours. Did a great job. I should have gone that route originally. The kid wanted $60 but I gave him a single bill instead - I was so happy to have it done and it was worth it! He also made me a mounting plate for my minitruck PS on the frame off that I still have failed to post a thread on :meh:

But, enough about me~ I think second time will be the charm on this one. Sounds like you got your junk built by some guys who for sure knew WTF. Looking forward to see it back in one piece!

I just caught this last part of your thread in the past couple of days! Good to see it going back together! It will be nice to get a chance to breathe after all you've put into this beauty! Why did you and Matt end up using the same color for both of your trucks? :p
