you would be correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D ran it last night for 30 min about....:grinpimp: runs very good, seems very smooth at idle (only took it to about 1500 RMP and that was just for a second)..... I have a video of it, currently having a hard time getting it off my camera, so I will post it up as soon as I can...

tonight goal, get all vac lines put back together, and front sheet metal back on, center cousel and stereo hooked back up.... run engine for another 20 min (at a higher RMP) and change oil....

If that is a new cam and/or lifters, then definitely run the snot out of it (2000RPM for a good 20 minutes) before doing anything else. Hammering on the valvetrain parts will get them work-hardened and bedded in to each other. Re-tork headbolts & check hot valve clearances to be sure nothing bad is happening. Then drive it, revving up & down through the gears for the first few trips into town.

Enjoy!

Sweet, glad to hear it's running good. I hope it stays that way for you this time. I'm pulling mine back out probably tomorrow evening for teardown again. Machine shop is going to polish the crank and i'll have him get me a new set of bearings, then everything's getting a real good cleaning this time before I put it back together. After doing some reading I am going to go with an OE head gasket this time too. Neither of the aftermarket HG's I have installed matched the one that came off the motor as far as the cooling holes are concerned.

just call Cdan and get a whole new gasket kit... you will need them all anyway.. it was like 150 bucks... well worth it

Noice! Glad to hear it is among the living. I drove mine yesterday...no headlights but no leaks either

very cool man!!!!!!! no leaks is a big thing!!!

so I drove it maybe a mile and a half this weekend (about 1.8 hours on engine now)... nothing at high speed, maybe 20mph... just too damn loud :) sure my neighbors are pissed enough at me.... exhaust shop tomorrow, going to leave 4 runner there tonight and drive LC there in the morning, pick it up after work....

only think I still cant get to work is the drivers side blinkers.... got to be a ground issue... just can not find it..... try again tonight... if not... it will be driven blinker or no blinker :)

You can always use hand signals if needed. On mine I recall the blinkers only actually flashing for one side back when I first bought it. The other direction they would come on and stay on. I looked for bad grounds and didn't find any then I bought a new flasher from Toyota that had a seperate ground lead connected to it. Fixed the problem and it's been fine ever since. When it's running of course. I tore down my engine over the weekend, everythings fine except the crank and main bearings. Now i'm just waiting on the machine shop to let me know if it can be polished or if it has to be ground again. Ordered the gaskets today from my local dealer, so hopefully next week I can start re-assembly for the third time. I'm getting pretty quick, I had the motor/trans/ transfercase out of the truck in under 2 hours by myself this time.

that would be admitting that I knew there was a problem.... I learned at a young age... to play dumb.... :D works for me...

Good news. Gotta be something simple on the blinker. I, on the other hand, have an overheating issue - or a bad sender, but I did put in a new windshield. I had no idea how horrible the other one was until I cleaned the new one!

What? You afraid to get a little wet?

Or is it you just can't stand the thought of the truck getting dirty? :D

nope they dont have a bay to keep it in all day, as I could not pick it up until after work, so it would have to sit outside in the rain all day...... no need for that.... if it is raining I would not be driving it anyway...... got another appt tomorrow and they have inside storage for it all day so worst I would have to do is drive it there in the rain... :censor:

Well....

Did you get it dropped off?

got the truck back last night... sounds great!!!! no leaks in the man. gasket... sounds better than it ever has!!!! (put about 3 miles on truck, drives and runs great so far) so spent an hour or so last night taking apart the power steering as the belt was making alot of noise, I went to the parts store and bought a shorter one, dont know if that is what I am going to do or not.... but took thing apart and working on getting it back together again.

also worked on blinkers again last night... still no solution to that... got them all working... put back together andnow they dont work again..... I was getting pissed so i put everything down and walked away....

On the blinker issue, there was a thread posted recently about the springs under the shorting plate in the switch needing to be stretched due to the circuit board warping slightly causing the contacts to not make contact. Might be worth a read?
