I sure like this valve covers that have the 2F cast in to them. I was tempted to source one just for looks, but I settled for a fresh sticker and saved the $$.

That one was only $50. I cleaned it up and painted the casting but it was in great condition otherwise. I have the original one still though too.I sure like this valve covers that have the 2F cast in to them. I figure this is good enough for a double post DM or text meFor those who have helped me with my rebuild project is it ok for me to mention your support in this weeks episode as I am planning doing a project update.
I need to figure out the running problem still. I don't know if it is a bunk carburetor or what but it seems like the carb. I also have to take a look at something in my new dizzy. Needless to say this whole thing is driving me bonkers.Seems like you're close to being on the road again. Is this a driver once the new plugs show up?
So a lot of you have reached out to me privately to ask for updates on what has been happening with my girl. The OEM fuel pump didn't work when I first put it in originally. So I bought an aftermarket fuel pump from parts geek. That pump was working but it was sucking in air at fuel pump outlet, leading to not being able to run with out the choke being pulled. I called customer service and had to order a replacement fuel pump under warranty. Got the new pump and sent the malfunctioning pump back with a new pump, again an aftermarket one. I primed the carburetor and cranked it over and it would only run for a few seconds and shut off. Well that went on for a while and I was racking my brain as to why it wasn't working. Brings up the old question when did it become unhappy. The second pump was really un happy. A coworker told me to hook up a vacuum gauge to the inlet and see if the pump is pulling any vacuum. Well the vacuum gauge barely fluttered when I had my son crank it over. So I pulled the second aftermarket fuel pump out and compared the plunger to the OEM 2F pump and the second pump had a range of about 1/8 inch and the OEM pump was more then 1/4 inch. So I returned the second aftermarket fuel pump. Lesson learned I ordered an OEM fuel pump rebuild kit from @Cruiser Cult which should be here this weekend.
So @Chungas Revenge I have no room to talk I inadvertently hijacked my own thread![]()
Is this thing running yet??
Is there there something unique about your truck? Not yet. I have the OEM fuel pump rebuilt and ready to put in, but I have yet to find a way that I can put it in by myself. My indentured servants aren't a lot of help when it comes to that. I am hoping that on the Monday holiday I can get some work done it. I haven't had the time to work on it due to repairs to my daughters car, my son's hockey team is in the middle of state playoffs and the podcast. that and I don't always feel like working on it in the dark
