I sure like this valve covers that have the 2F cast in to them. I was tempted to source one just for looks, but I settled for a fresh sticker and saved the $$.

I got the cover from Proffitt's for a very reasonable price. You will need shorter VC bolts though.

That one was only $50. I cleaned it up and painted the casting but it was in great condition otherwise. I have the original one still though too.

So took off the carb to clean and inspect it. I also took some of the advice given to me. I removed the rubber line and the secondary fuel filter. Relocated the secondary fuel filter to just before the pump.

You can kinda see it down there. I also put a longer hose for the PCV to the intake to the front of the valve cover. That way it won't interfere with the air cleaner.

Not something that I am doing but getting some help with it I am getting new door access panels 3D printed
IMG_20241121_195218.jpg

It was the first try it should look a bit better in the end.

The first batch of access panels were too hard to get into the hole without breaking so my coworker printed a couple more with TPU filament. And they fit perfectly and just pop right in.

I am how ever going to have my oldest daughter paint the logo covers so you can see the TEQ better.

On the fuel line side of things I got the one piece hard line going to the carburetor bent up and fastened into place with some compression fittings.

It should be able to clear the air cleaner now.

For those who have helped me with my rebuild project is it ok for me to mention your support in this weeks episode as I am planning doing a project update.
I figure this is good enough for a double post DM or text me

I know I should have done this a while ago specifically before I started getting her fired up. But I ran a compression test across all cylinders and I can honestly say I am pleased with the results

All of them are about 140&148. I am pleased with those numbers. My new spark plugs are coming in today.

Seems like you're close to being on the road again. Is this a driver once the new plugs show up?
I need to figure out the running problem still. I don't know if it is a bunk carburetor or what but it seems like the carb. I also have to take a look at something in my new dizzy. Needless to say this whole thing is driving me bonkers.

So when I installed the new fuel pump the outlet connection fitting was angled at the block and when I installed my new hard line it broke the seal for the fitting so it was sucking air and fuel. I thought that the fitting was molded onto the pump so I ordered a new pump and have to send back the old pump still under warranty. Now I am waiting on the replacement pump to show up, which I thought it was going to be here over the weekend. It wouldn't have mattered anyway because I had hockey games all weekend for my son and also my season ticket that I have.

So I am getting custom seat covers from a horse blanket that I got for Christmas And I had some extra material so I decided to cover my dash

I know the lines aren't straight

So @Chungas Revenge I have no room to talk I inadvertently hijacked my own thread 😆

So a lot of you have reached out to me privately to ask for updates on what has been happening with my girl. The OEM fuel pump didn't work when I first put it in originally. So I bought an aftermarket fuel pump from parts geek. That pump was working but it was sucking in air at fuel pump outlet, leading to not being able to run with out the choke being pulled. I called customer service and had to order a replacement fuel pump under warranty. Got the new pump and sent the malfunctioning pump back with a new pump, again an aftermarket one. I primed the carburetor and cranked it over and it would only run for a few seconds and shut off. Well that went on for a while and I was racking my brain as to why it wasn't working. Brings up the old question when did it become unhappy. The second pump was really un happy. A coworker told me to hook up a vacuum gauge to the inlet and see if the pump is pulling any vacuum. Well the vacuum gauge barely fluttered when I had my son crank it over. So I pulled the second aftermarket fuel pump out and compared the plunger to the OEM 2F pump and the second pump had a range of about 1/8 inch and the OEM pump was more then 1/4 inch. So I returned the second aftermarket fuel pump. Lesson learned I ordered an OEM fuel pump rebuild kit from @Cruiser Cult which should be here this weekend.

Is this thing running yet??

Not yet. I have the OEM fuel pump rebuilt and ready to put in, but I have yet to find a way that I can put it in by myself. My indentured servants aren't a lot of help when it comes to that. I am hoping that on the Monday holiday I can get some work done it. I haven't had the time to work on it due to repairs to my daughters car, my son's hockey team is in the middle of state playoffs and the podcast. that and I don't always feel like working on it in the dark

Is there there something unique about your truck?
I put a fuel pump in back when I thought JIS was code for something nasty.

If it's not running by Monday we're going to send you one of these and you will be able to yield the power of 30 suns
