You are so lucky that you know at least were the lever spring is !
Kinda I tried to find it with a bore scope and couldn't see through the oil. So now I drained the oil and I am going to try going through the drain plug. I really don't want to pull the oil pan off again

A coworker just mentioned to me that I should get the fuel pump in and get it started and put some miles on it this weekend so that Monday I could drive it from Tucson to Vegas for SEMA since I am going to be up there next week. While I am at it take it to the SEMA Nights at Man-a-fre. I hate it when the devil on my shoulder has a good idea, then the angel on the other side is like dude that is a rad idea. Then my wallet says that it would be $375 just in fuel.

Were you able to get the spring out of the pan?

Not without removing the pan but I am not too concerned the screen oil pump should protect that. I was able to get a new spring installed into the fuel pump. I am thinking that the old spring wasn't installed all of the way.

Nice! Get it installed and get this thing running.

If you ever drop something in the pan again drain the oil and use a big magnet on the outside of the pan to get it towards the drain plug.

The SEMA trip would make for some great pod cast banter. Well worth the $375 for fuel. The AAA idea is never a bad idea, even Seaknight and the Turtle used AAA on the Rust Bucket adventure. I say go for it.

Thread use to be a sticky at the top of the 40/55 section. I wonder how many members in this section even know what it is? Was a great thread but think of it as a author who never finished the book.
I found it one day and spent entirely to much time reading it.

It should be a sticky as a newbie read this first

The “ending” is one of the more painful things to have experienced.

I read Seanight’s “Saving the Rust Bucket” thread twice and both times I was disappointed at the end. Not because it wasn’t an incredible read but because I didn’t want it to end. I still wish he would finish it. Every new Landcruiser owner should read that thread before you do anything at all to your rig. There are some great threads on this forum but that one stands alone.

Dan
Sorry for hijacking your thread
Carry on.
Hoping you decide to do the “Smurf to SEMA” adventure.
No worries
