What’s with all this self control? Most of us cruiser guys would have tried starting it on day one, old gas, and oil, then tried driving with a Home Depot bucket as the seat.

Either way, super motivating watching you restore this thing to its former glory days. Can’t wait to see more progress. An Fj62 is on my list for sure. Keep it up!
Hehe, that's exactly what I did with the 60..it had a seat though.
I've been having a blast going through this one. The transmission gaskets should be here tomorrow, so as long as the fuel pump checks good, should be turning the key Wednesday.

The psychological value of a running engine is an interesting thing. Many people will pay a premium for a project vehicle that "runs" only to tear the entire drivetrain apart and rebuild it, or repower it with a different engine. In reality, of the common issues that plague the systems of an FJ60/62, the engine is one of the easiest to sort out vs say, time spent on rust repair and body work.

Dude, unless there is a rod peeking thru the pan, it’ll run. A guy might wanna actually drop the pan and check a couple rod bearings and a main or two, replacing any and all gaskets and seals while backing out. But, serial, fire it up already:lol:

I think it's safe to say we all suffer from some type of mental disorder!
Funny you mention dropping the pan, I almost dropped it over the weekend but figured it would be easy enough to tell if the bottom end is healthy when it runs, then take a look at leaks.

so you will pump to the fuel filter and catch it there before the fuel filter? Why jump the relay? do you believe it is bad? Why not just test the entire fuel pump/relay and wiring as it is connected to the ignition? You can just disconnect the coil wire so the engine doesn't (Edit) Fire right?

Shhh, I’m busting you and I take liberties as I’m one of few women (and old timer) in this primarily mans forum. I thought he might not see your question because it became part of his quote. I’ve done it myself where I’ve mistakenly deleted part of what quotes the previous persons type. That’s it. The ‘newish’ was deliberate sarcasm. ;)

Here are the part numbers for the hose. Keep asking away, search can get frustrating. I used 6mm for the 60 (supposed to be 5.5) so I ordered 5mm to see how it fit. The silently stalking cracked me up this morning...good stuff.

Thanks for the part numbers. How does the 6mm line fit as opposed to the 5mm? I like the different color. Much easier to trace the vacuum soup of the EGR system. I've got to get the old beast to pass smog here in CA. Always a fun time on a carbureted vehicle that needs to meet current emissions standards.

Hey... at least I made someone's morning. Ha ha ha....

A local junk yard has/had a 1982 FJ60 that literally drove to the yard.... to be parted out. All glass intact. Interior was not spotless, but in relative good order and everything was there. The bad? I think there was barely a body panel without rust and the roof and pillars suffered most of all. Interestingly enough, the interior was bone dry. I'm going to go back for a few parts that may be in better shape than on my 1987.

Seriously good work on that 62. I'm enjoying watching the transformation, and it's a bit inspiring also.

The jumper should close the relay and send power to the pump, the filter is out so yes, just going to put the hose in a container. I want to run a gallon or so through.

Got setup to do this yesterday, battery hooked up, jumper in, key on....nada...start checking power and find a bad fusible link. Thing checked fine for continuity out of the vehicle. Turns out I can twist the wire a little and make it go open. Crap...parts search...NLA...double crap...pull my 60s spare out of the bag...I could cut the connector off and use this one...can't start robbing it's parts...wasn't someone on here making some?...search search search ..maybe ..nope ..search.. aha coolerman....pm sent...didn't I buy some fusible link wire a while back?...

Just as a reference, once you get the rubber stopper out of the back of the connector, this is the tab that holds the terminal in..

There is no discernible reason why this piece comes off or is even a separate piece. Maybe just to give you something to puzzle with and give you hope that you're making progress, then...???

Replaced the 3 greens with 20ga

I rebuilt mine but did buy the one stretch of the section from the dealer. I’ll have to check my thread to find out which it was. The rest I pulled apart like you have and rebuilt it.

The 5mm definitely has a more secure feel to it and I don't think being .5mm under will effect airflow. What part of SoCal are you in?

90982-08135, not cheap at $58.00 back on 7/01/16
I had replaced the middle section... probably a diff beast than the 62. The section I rebuilt was from the harness to the middle. I reused the female connector you show above because nothing was long enough at Napa. But yeah, Coolerman does nice work. He guided me on the wires gauge as mine was split and jumped to the positive.
