@WarDamnEagle @gonzopancho @PabloCruise do you guys have pictures/descriptions of the rear attachment seat bracket fixes in your builds? I have close to zero welding/metal working skill but may give it a go this time around if I can wrap my brain around it. 🍻

My brackets are still perfect. I guess my pig didn't go to the drive-in very often. o_O

My rear seat just needed adjustment, and the cable that opens the pin that keeps the seat bottom attached to the floorboard.

The front seat / frame is entirely custom in the 74.

Sorry

Epic fail today. Assembled intake and header assembly. Double Felpro gasket, copper sealant. Everything was going on as well as it can in terms of fitting and tightening up the absolutely most difficult bolts to reach on earth. Got everything snugged up then attempted to instal the OEM accelerator linkage. The plate that fits over the outside studs that the carb rides on didn’t fit without some serious persuasion. I did manage to persuade it on, tightened everything down and found that there was so much stress in the system that the linkage was essentially frozen.

There are only 3 fixed points in the system, the pedal coming through the firewall, the upper pivot point in the firewall and the fitting that sits over the studs that come out of the intake manifold. My best guess at this point is that I need to take my intake/header assembly apart and try and move it forward to give the linkage more wiggle room. If anyone else has any ideas I’m all ears.

I just don’t see enough room to move the intake/header assembly forward far enough to solve the problem…

Sorry thinking on the go here…is it possible I’m missing something that goes between the OEM pedal and firewall on the inside of Marge that would change the geometry of the system?

Im not at my trucks, they're located off site... sorry.. but from memory I think your pedal assembly is correct.. Is the bracket that attaches to your carb original. and is the linkage original from the firewall to the bracket.. I'm questioning the the length of the rod that extends to your bracket... Do you still have the originals? I know you replaced an aftermarket carb, how about the linkage?

Sorry about this next question, but is there a spacer/grommets between the bracket attaching to the firewall and the firewall... Is that a gap I see in the pic?

@MacDaddyRabbit thank you for confirmation on the pedal. I had zero OEM linkage, this is the kit that Mr. ToyotaMatt put together for me so I’m at a total loss as to original length etc. The upper bracket on the fire wall was still intact thank goodness. The linkage piece that fits into the upper fire wall bracket as far as I can tell simply slides into a hole and pivots as the gas pedal is depressed/not depressed. I can get a better picture if needed to confirm.

Looking for an SME to jump in, but I'm curious whether you have the linkage correctly attached to the firewall bracket.. I just looked at mine the other day when removing my carb.. and is the firewall bracket correctly attached... did they place a spacer in there when installing the aftermarket carb

@scrapdaddy I did place the carb (racer 65 carb) on the studs and was able to attach all the linkage but everything was so stressed and bent out of shape none of the linkage would move. All of the ball joints were off kilter. I forced the linkage piece onto the outside studs after putting the carb on snugged it down and everything was essentially locked up. I’m absolutely guessing here but it seems the piece with the arrow pointing at it below is too long. Unless like I said my intake manifold needs to be moved towards the front of the engine.

Im certain you have the right parts... so take a look at the bracket on the firewall.. first ensure there's not a spacer in there.. then where the linkage attaches to that could there be another way for that to work...
ToyotaMatt has got his poop right is my bet..

suggestion... detach the assembly from the firewall bracket and will the 'rod' attach to the rear of the firewall bracket...as opposed to the front as you have it now..

Scrap, is the perpendicular rod supposed to be on the other side of the linkage? meaning it would have to be attached to the back side of the firewall bracket?
At best an SME has there truck nearby or the innate 411 to help.. I don't have enuf experience, but I will got to my trucks tomorrow morn if this isn't answered tonite.. but I agree with Scrapdaddy don't modify anything .....

I have complete faith that Matt sent me the correct parts! I have close to zero faith I am assembling them correctly…😂 more pictures that will hopefully help.
